Cool it. He's just asking for help. Are you gonna act like that when an old lady asks you to help her across the road? Act your age, I'm 17 and more mature that you. He has a very good argument, listen to him.

bwahaha says the guy with a jensen headunit.. i cant dare take you seriously over the internet.

6.5" drivers play a different frequency range than the subs do, thus allowing them to both play without interference

once again, it is an extremely poor idea to use both kinds of subwoofers at the same time

quoting so we all read it again in case we missed it. Different speakers inside play different frequencies.

and even if you built the same box for both subs, say 2 cubes @ 32 hz, they will still sound different because they respond differently in that size and tune of box. It may take the BTL a 2 cube @ 32 box to have the same frequency response as the Kicker at 3 cubes @ 29 hz, or something.

put it this way, ill bet you if you use both subs in with the power you have VS. 1 btl with the power you have the single driver would most likely give you a higher number. no canellation and more powr to 1 sub...

as long as it in separate boxes it will sound alright, if you can get them tune the same..IMO

the way i see it is everyone says dont mix diff sizes and brands.. but that would mean you cant have 6 1/2 speakers in a car if you have subs, but if the enclosures are separate its alright to do it

This advice is so terrible had I seen it and been the next to post I just would have deleted it. You should NEVER mix subs.

Sell one and get a duplicate of the other or just run one sub. That is your only choice.

Need some time away from here?

These Threads always turn ugly......

Ok what do we need to know here.

Use the search function, or do a bit of digging please. No time I have ever read that there is a consensus to use 2 different drivers for the same Hz range. It will not work to your advantage. Even if it's the same line/brand sub but different size driver it will not work! It will cause problems, and even if you have the driver already, it's a waste of money, you could sell the driver and have cash for the nudie bar, or towards another driver or amp. A bit of digging would have shown this.

After hearing so much resounding advise to do something, why would you try to fight that. In one post that agreed with using 2 different subs, you said you had been waiting to hear that. I understand you wanted it to be true, but many of the verry well educated people here gave you solid advice. The fact you are willing to listen to poor advice, just because you wanted to hear it says a lot about you. Asking why, and trying to research and learn is one thing, but as they say.... "you can put lipstick on a pig".... You can't change reality because you want to. Physics are pretty solid and hard to argue.

ok, hate to admit it, but i gotta say that i have tried this....think it was like in '98. I mixed two 12" Rockfords with something else, I think JBL...two totally seperate boxes....SOUNDED HORRID...almost sounded like on top of the bass someone was farting into a microphone, lol. It was more humorous than anything, but yeah, didn't work to any advantage, but disadvantage yep.

Yeah stealth, I do have a Jensen HU, and I LOVE IT! I like being able to watch action packed movies on my SS components...they sound amazing! Yes I know that DVD players lack in sound quality and concentrate more on video quality, how does that mean that you should disrespect me? Because I enjoy not having a POS Kenwood HU? I realize that ehy arent the best out there, but am I going to be the best if I get whatever HU you have? No, I won't be, cause the HU doesn't make or break a sound system!

do you even kow what dac or burr brown is. do you know why voltage output is important for decks. you do know that jensen has little to no EQ. jensen is for 17 year olds, oh wait you are 17. my bad should fit you perfectly. and im a pioneer man myself.

So you have an 880/800?

Play nice or not at all.

play nice or not at all, i'll hand out vacation passes.

why cant we all get along, anyways, i was wondering, what if someone were to get lets say a fi q 18 and a fi q 12 and put them in seperate boxes and tuned differently with a crossover for the bass on them, how would that sound?

No, for the same reason that you wouldn't mix Brands. Different sizes peak at different frequencies.

800prs M5////////. and the 9800bt has burr brown as well..

and to duran. im sure i dont have to worry i know for a fact that im more knowledgable then you are. i do this for a living. and if your gonna post again then you win because i dont wanna get suspended again. or banned.

you know nothing all you do is spin records.

You could, but it would be a waste of time and money. If you put the 18 from like 0 to 30 hz it would hardly every play anything because barely any music goes that low, so you may as well just use the 12. And you can only go up to 60-maybe 80 hz with either driver, and the 18 will easily handle that, so no real reason to have a 12 to go any higher. It just doesn't make sense to have two drivers split up to play only 80 hz total of the music spectrum.

It would be much more favorable to just choose either the 12 or 18, then build a 3-way component set up front, because in that case the 8" midwoofer would play 60-300 hz or whatever, and sound much better doing it.

Now ladies, if we can't play nice i will be handing out vacation tickets to anywhere but here.

I will not tolerate this. I don't care what you know or don't know or what you think you might know. Bottom line is you are wrong, DO NOT MIX SUBWOOFERS.

I've got more important stuff to do than to go through and edit these posts.

Regards,

Nick

Well put. And well put, again.

Thank you!

ok. so yall say you cant mix sub sizes because they peak at diff frequencies.,, but you also say the reason you can put subs and 6 1/2s in a car is because it peaks a diff frequencies..,

Ive mixed 2 12s with 8 and it sounded fine, and ive also had 2 12s firin towards each other,, and everyone one says there is cancellation, but there was none for my application
