A client swung by to drop off his IXL-10's to figure out what went wrong...

Needless to say, he will be getting an SPL-15 and looking for an amp that delivers solid output.

Wow. That would be something to see when you opened your trunk.

whoa... so that was a fire... is that fire extinguisher powder on the motor

Well that's a lot of heat lol

I'm betting he was playing a lot of notes near the tuning frequency of his ported box.

Yup, prime example of a very low budget "high power" amp and lack of system calibration. Needless to say he is looking to get a better amp to drive a single SPL-15.

Give chad the motor! Wow, shame with the rate of product improvement in the industry and the customers can still push things way past the limits.

IXL's a cooking and a clippin'.

what kinda of dirty amp is doing things like this.

I'd rather not say, as my loose fingers tend to get me into trouble from time to time :D

Since this is the first time I've seen something like this, a couple of folks over at ca.com provided some insight into what could have possibly happened. I'll be looking closer at this to see if I can figure it out..

Whoa! I've only seen that once or twice before (not on Mach5 products), pretty rare for a woofer to go up in smoke like that.

Lots of power I take it, Mark ?

Im pretty sure i know where that ixl came from .....and as for the amp..if im right naming it is against the laws of car audio..thats how bad it is. If im right it was my cousin and he would not listen to me :( i tried alot!

I suppose. First time I've seen anything like this...

I've only heard of an FI doing that.

What an ignorant statement.

Anyway, how much power was he running to that... and what amp?

Wow...
