Just picked up an original 12" Assassin, single 4 ohm, ones with stamped steel basket. I'm looking for the best SQ I can get with ported enclosure, as i listen to all genres of music. I was thinking 2.0cf @ 32hz? Going with a slot port so how many sq inches of port? Going in the trunk of my grand prix btw.

2-2.5 tuned to 32 will work. How much power are you going to run? 250-300 watts should be enough.

30-35 inches of port area will work great.

I have 500w on tap, but I'm not planning on using all of it, maybe 300~400 on regular basis. Do they really need 30+sq inches of port? Not doubting you by any means, but that's allot more than what I was expecting.
