i have 8-9 gig of music...i think. probably a gig of it is low quality underground rap and mixed beats. i have no idea how many songs. No where near 1400 CD's worth...that is a pretty big CD collection. $20,000-$30,000 worth of CD's.

I have way more than 200gb....

I think by the time it is all FLAC'd it will be around 500gb

Of course only digitizing the ones I will listen to.

512 bit rate is at CD quality...

ITunes is Teh Gay for backup up CD's with 256 bit rate.

Deffanitly a difference in upper end clarity and low bass clenlyness between 128 and 512...though 512 takes up 4 times the sapce.

512 vs. Flac -- I'll go lossless and wait for a real converter that makes things smaller without the lossiness or drives get cheap enough that I don't care.

ive bought MAYBE 10 CD's the rest are copied from friends and all the others are doanloaded, alot from ITunes when Pepsi was running that free music deal. The rest from Rhapsody and Kazaa before it be came a haven for trojans and adware about 2.5-3 years ago.
