soooo i had an interesting experience today. went to check on the backorder status of my ruger 345, ended up playing with some similar models. i was looking over a ruger kp944ht, and i had the decocker/safety set to safe, and when i pulled the slide back a little to "peek" the chamber it cocked the hammer but the slide didn't come all the way back forward when i let go! this left the hammer cocked which is bad because it is supposed to decock the gun when the slide is pulled with safe is on, so i went to flip the decocker again to uncock the weapon and it dropped the hammer! of course the gun was unloaded but that's not a good design feature. i brought this to the attention of my ffl and he was mortified. the trigger would also catch when the slide wasn't all the way forward with the safety on, allowing the gun to fire. so i don't think i'm getting a ruger anymore....

I'm betting it is a firing pin block setup, so when it drops the hammer there is a block over the firing pin so it strikes the block instead. Its the way my Firestorm .380 is set up.

And when you racked the slide, are you sure the slide went back fully closed? On that stye of setup it won't decock until the slide is fully closed, now if this occurs and you flip the safety off, it will close the slide completely, and if you go to reengage the decocker, it will decock. The slide only has to be a little bit back, (1/8" would do it) for it not to decock when racking the slide with the safety on. Something easy to do on a new non broken in gun and being easy on it.

that's exactly what was happening, the slide was hanging up 2mm from coming all the way forward and leaving the hammer cocked. for some reason it allowed the trigger to catch when you pulled it and it sure felt like a dry fire not a decock. imho i'd rather have no safety than a defective one, even if we were trying to make it malfunction, there's no excuse for that. my ffl said he's going to take both the 944's and a 90 that was doing the same thing up to the range and test the to see if they'll fire on safe. in the meantime i need to find an alternative handgun for myself because i gave my dad the gp100 for his birthday in april and i feel naked without one... thinking a colt 1911, or possibly a kimber but i hear they're a mixed bag. i'm looking for 4-4.5" barrel, under 35oz unloaded, preferably all stainless with dot sights. here's what caught my eye last night:

colt lightweight commander; 26oz unloaded, alu frame and stainless components.

V belt that drives the blower for my furnace/AC blew in half last night. Not fun.

My wife does nothing but whine when she is warm.

I just take a cold shower, and turn on the turbo celeing fan.

Bitchy wife FTL

I went to 6 stores to look for a V belt. Closed or didn't have....

ghey

"bitchy wife FTL" haha. My gf gets that way too. "Oh no, I'm sweating, I don't like to sweat!" Even when she "works out" she tries not to sweat. come on...... Though she does have a bit of asthma so that kinda keeps her from going too hard and sweating a lot anyways.

My wife has high BP so she gets worked up and over heats so easily. I think I need to start spiking her tea with some thorazine or something to mellow her out.

My wife loves to go to the gym, but when she gets there she's all frowns and crabby too lol

:P

When I don't see customers, I don't shave. Had a full beard a week ago, but down to a fu-man

i'm on like week 4 fur.

I used to shave all the time. I've lost all interest in cosmetic appearance lately. Ever since last year getting so sick I just don't give a fudge anymore.

Grout is finished

I read that 3 times before I got it.

I thought it said "GOUT"

Lawl.

Someone needs stimulants this morning.

Thats OMGWTF unacceptable!

sounds like a good way to cause a bad injury.

dang. i have been up all night trying to find a good deal on a batt. made an account on ca and car audio classifieds. still got nothing

/\ going dancing tonight?

Nope, but am attending A-Kon 20 next weekend so who knows what I'll be doing then :lol2:

wtf electrical gremlin is that

the 5.4 2V ford COP problem that sucked ass untill the 2000's. That is the most likely. I think the alt was weak from when I got it... it never held high 13v-14v at all after it warmed up.

A lot of guys just squirt/spread dielectric grease on the coils to stop the issue. I should have but my cousin in law said it was worthless to do. He's a Mechanic full time, and runs a shop out of his garage after the day job.

I'm gonna use the grease when I change them again and just buy the tools to do it my damn self.
