  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

There are a ton of theories and this is classic media. You can "confirm" what you like many different ways.

There is one super truth though, the time we have been recording temperature is inconsequential. In the grand scheme of the Earth the subset of 150yrs is a fucking joke.

You can also severely question the locations where these temperature measurement devices are. You know what the effects of putting a lot of cement in an area with seasons does? That's right it tempers everything. Now go measure there and come up with a yearly average, guess what its higher. Hmm.

It is far from scientific and purely political. Political regularly equals lies. H1N1, Global Warming, Economic Stimulus all fucking shit.

All shit is right. 150 years is a joke. There was a glacier in Kansas 400,000 years ago, which is only 1/10,000th of the earth's age ago. That is basically like one day in my whole life of 25 years.

Most humans just can't deal with the fact that they can't control something, e.g.- the earth. Control freaks, the lot of them.

For me personally, i just wonder how big of an impact we are having on the earth's cycles

Made it back. If you guys have never been to NY during the Holiday season, you are missing out on some awesome sights and people watching.

There is nothing like driving there what fun.

I drove through NY like two days after Christmas last year. F that, traffic was ridiculous. I felt claustrophobic from that, and I don't get claustrophobic.

Since I'm being stalkerish :P What actually brought you to SSA Dylan/Peng?

SiN exploding

wtf is SiN?

Soundillusions.net. Also Carstereos.org (CSO), they had to change the name. But now it's back to Sin

The PbNi battery is what is holding hybrid cars back at the moment.

The manufacturing of the batteries is what makes the hybrid car pretty much the same as a regular car.

So there is no real benefit any driving a hybrid at the moment, because you still are hurting the environment by consuming precious metals, and the lengthy process that it takes to produce them.

I've thought for a long time that batteries need a big leap forward before anything substantial will come of it.

I think our damage is just cosmetic, like urban sprawl ruining scenery and garbage piling up. Though we'll really need to do something about our agricultural practices before long. Watched a show the other day and China is having problems with ground water mining like we are. I think if humans are going to have a prosperous life after about 50 years from now we're going to have to perfect desalination and make it very economical.

I can't see any way for humans to altar the earth in any fashion even remotely permanent. I mean volcanoes are some of the most destructive yet awesome things on the planet, yet even their ash clouds that can cover nearly the ENTIRE PLANET and drop the global temperatures several degrees in a literal instant fade away after a couple of years and the earth is back to normal. I mean when you hear the narrators on those shows say that like the Mt. St. Helens eruption was equal to like 4 million tons of TNT or 10,000 Hiroshima bombs, come on. Humans haven't even come close to replicating that kind of power and short term change. Same with El Nino cycles, sun cycles, etc. Not even to mention how continental drift and the positioning of continents and land masses affects weather and landscapes everywhere.

Didn't know it was back up

I put global warming up there with Christmas for the most part in terms of ignorance and whatnot

Most people don't realize that the majority of what we consider "Christmas traditions" only dates back to Reconstruction. Hell it wasn't even a federal holiday until 1870.

but yes global warming is a lot of phooey, for the reasons both KU40 and Sean have already posted

Only got 6 hours of sleep because I was up till 4 making out.

I should be moving and trying to do something. Only have 4 hours of daylight left.

I figure it another way. Not like Christmas is a religious holiday anyways so you might as well take Hay-seus out of it.

To me it's just an excuse for people to buy gifts.

Blueberry pancakes w. butter pecan syrup and eggs for breakfast FTW!

Sounds like a good reason to blow off the day.

Until Aidan came along that wasn't something we did either. Just makes no sense to me. Spend a bunch of money on someone for something they might want. Fuck that, if Kari or I want something we'll talk about it and buy it.

*this year I am getting her a "gift" though. It's been more than 2 years in the house and we still don't own a microwave. As a Xmas gift it's a joke though as with the little man we actually "need" one

**pretty sure I still won't use it except for defrosting meat occasionally....which is exactly why I am picking one out. Inverter defrost ftw. (or so I hope)

gifts are fun though! especially my novelty gifts :santa:

PARTY! The girls that were suppose to come over to my place ended up getting hammered and passing out=lame night and in bed at 2 :(

Do you mean NYC or the actual state of NY?

Cause there is one hell of a difference.
