Why not buy the larger one and fill the "extra" space with wood blocks?

See, that's what I was wondering. Is it tighter bass in a smaller box? Will it get muddy in a bigger box? Etc....

Well, for my friend's install, I had him buy the larger one because he had a very low powered amp - so I went larger on the enclosure size to compensate.

Increasing enclosure volume will actually tighten up transient response and group delay, as long as it's not critically overdamped...just the overall output goes down.

I don't have any in mind yet, but just wondering how the volume of the enclosure will affect the subs.

I see. Thanks again. I'll be powering 2-10" Type-R's with an Alpine MRD-M501 at 2 ohms. So I should also go with a slightly bigger box, say 1ft^3.

looks like he wont be getting the scion tC anymore when he gets his license. still a possibility but it's getting less and less likely. i feel sorry for him though, it's mostly my fault after i totalled my rsx. he gets the double standard and my parents are pretending we're in a money crunch again.

in all honesty, kids should get a chit car for their first car. it's cliche but it makes them appreciate it so much more. i wish it was that way for me. i went from my rsx to my crappy truck and it makes me depressed every time i get in my car.

parents should give their kids like a big van or something. maybe put a flower on it for humility's sake.

You want a kid to appreciate their first car...Make them buy it ;)

My dad will never let me forget the fact that the first car he bought on his own was a '67 green Mustang fastback he bought in DC when he was there on co-op...how I'd love to buy the same car when I graduate, and not let him drive it :D
