You guys make me feel lazy with all this working out talk. All I do is manual labor.

Its all bull shit anyways. My brother is into body building and lifts a shit ton of weight, but has no real strength. His punches are weak, he can't loosen a stubborn bolt, and when we wrestle, I simply whip his ass. He's got 40lbs on me and it's all muscle and still doesn't have the strength I have.

A true body builder really does work out just to gain the muscle and there are plenty of ways to gain it without gaining actual strength

Which is fucking stupid. The amount of small penis's in the world is unbelievable. Not sure why they care so much what they look like, but instead should focus on how they feel. And believe me, that will help more with women than some fake muscle bullshit. Insecurity is a bitch. Hell look at the Anthole, rofl.

Well its got similarities to the people who have the Porsche/BMW/Mercedes or the big SUV, flashy jewelery, etc. They have a quest to 'compensate' for a shortcoming some place else. Mommy didn't love me, I have no coordination, I am a fucking moron on anything else, small dick, etc. I know in the case of some of the guys I work around, they were 300+lbs in school and consistently made fun of. They lost the fat by getting in the gym, stuck with it because it made them feel good physically and mentally.

Now some people do get TRULY obsessed like with any other 'hobby' or 'sport'. And those people are the EXCEPTION not the rule. I will say this, just like building a World Record SPL or SQ car, a car to win a race in NASCAR or some other racing circuit, or maybe even to be a high jumping Olympian it takes a SHIT TON of dedication and 10x more willpower. Now that being said, some of these 'body builders' are fucking shit heads. Complete and utter self centered, self obsessed douche bags who wouldn't help their little brother learn a thing much less anyone else. Again, we are talking about the exception not the rule.

Personally I enjoy hitting the gym when I have the time. Lately I have had little to no time to get in there especially with a hernia and a shittastic knee; and a wife who hates not having someone to vent to immediately after work. I gotta start back in there cause I am getting 'tubby' and that will not fly in my line of work.

Pretty much agree...with the caveat on the cars being a bit different. I drive a Mercedes. Not because I give a rats ass that it is a Mercedes, but I wanted the best crossover vehicle (drives like a car, pulls a trailer) that would be the least of a compromise. Most people buy things for status. That is pathetic, buying anything extreme for actual use is a completely different situation.

Congrats on the weight loss. smile.png Not being at that job helping?

Yes. Way less stress. In the gym 2 times a day sometimes.

Lots of hot tub sets!

OhYeah.gif

Hot tub sets ?

Yes after many lifting sets, I go sit in the hot tub. I call this hot tub sets.

Makes sense now.

Congrats on the progress smile.png

I'm not progressing as fast on weight but strength is definitely going up

He's lying. He bench presses me sitting in a hot tub on weekends. We keep his wife in the kitchen in shit while it's happening.

Actual LOL

Fuck, I think I am going to buy a pair of Extremis 6.8. Seems like the most bang for the buck midbass in 6.5-7" variety. I don't want to step up to an 8" midbass. It's going to delay the EGT gauge but wth, I can buy that later, the Extremis are available now...

They did that shit at Sears. It took me a year to understand their language.

About 2 weeks after I got hired there was a training session and I started writing down acronyms and asking them as soon as there was time to do that.

What EGT are you looking at? I've got a dual Koso on the IQr.

Whoa, looking good. Lot further than when I saw that. smile.png

It looked like you saw it on Thursday night.

Here it is today:

That being said, would you of gotten say a Kia if it had met that criteria? Or do you prefer a higher end because (IMO) it has more reliability, better parts, and greater creature comforts?

J

If the Kia had a similarly nice interior, could tow my boat >7000lbs, had enough space for car seats and my "short" ass to sit in front of them, had similar power, and wouldn't break ever month then it would surely be in the running.

Not so sure I'd say that Mercedes has better reliability than the Kia.

As for creature comforts, I could do with less computers and more old fashioned controls.

Fair enough.

I know daily I drive a 2011 Toyota Tundra. I wanted a pickup I could tow a good chunk of weight with, that was comfortable got better than HORRIBLE gas milage, would offer 0.00% financing, and that was reliable.

So far in over 14K in under 8 months is pretty damn good. Truck has not given me an issue yet.

That's why some people don't just shove weights around, but actually build muscle from doing shit. Perfect example would be using rings (like gymnast), or exercise routines that are coined "primal fitness", all usable strength that transfers over into real life.

One area I would love to gain more strength in is body weight exercises. I guess its really just part of my genetics to not be able to do a lot off pullups, push ups, dips, etc...

This goes a LONG way. Same reason squats > leg press. Just trying to add these movements to your work out help. Dips > bench for example. I use the assisted dip machine to help me. Moving the body through air, rather than weight alone through air always yields better results. It's how we are designed.

I'm not going to get into man strength vs muscularity and looks. For me the gym is something that is needed. There isn't a job out there that can duplicate the return on investment that I get from a solid work out. It makes me so much healthier, and helps me to minimize joint trauma but still maintaining mobility.

I also lift like a power lifter and train my lungs and heart for more practical reasons.

I do feel your pain though Mike. My body shape limits my ability to perform certain movements. Not the least of which right not is a massive gut, but even when I was thin.

A great example is deadlifts. If you ask me to deadlift a bar from the ground, asuming there are 45# plates on the sides, my reps and total weight are about 30% less than if you just have it 6" higher. My body just will not compress to pull it from so low of a height. Maybe it's my wider hips, silly huge thighs, short arms, or really long torso it just doesn't work well.

What EGT are you looking at? I've got a dual Koso on the IQr.

ISSPro make a cool color-coded one, complete kit (gauge, probe, lead wire) is ~$140. I already have VDO boost and oil temperature gauges but I want color-coded EGT and VDO doesn't make that.

Exactly a great fucking reason to do it!!

$140 is sweet. If you need the gauge to be waterproof they get a bit more spendy. Previous owner dropped $400 on the one on my snowmobile. Makes me want to add AFR to have a really complete monitoring system. Any ideas on cheap AFR gauges that are waterproof?

Did you check egauges.com ?

I couldn't find anyone to match their prices, apart from the boost gauge, which is a popular item...

It would be cool to get some flare orders in to finance the EGT gauge.

I understand that exactly. And I will be looking for a car that is hell of a lot of fun to drive, but is also capable of being comfortable for long trips. If the best for my money ends up being a Honda Accord then that's what I would want to get.

Honda Accords are NOT fun to drive, lol.
