Beware of recipes for the Carolina sauce. All shit. Just take some vinegar, add enough sugar (brown might be preferred for smoke), and then disolve the hottest powdered pepper you can find. Fresh Cayenne from a co-op or ground thai chile's will probably be the only choices where you live but will do. Add them, shake, and taste.

Going to have to shake the shit out of it before putting on anything as the peppers won't dissolve even with heat. I use a squeezebottle that is akin to a refillable ketchup bottle but clear plastic. bought at a restaurant supply store. Super useful for a ton of things, but one stays in the fridge for that purpose pretty much religiously.

Oh, it's fucking awesome on pulled pork. Especially on the fatty parts.

My brain just remembered that we used to have a pulled pork recipe floating on the hop for the egg. Is either of the sauce recipes here worth using?

http://www.nakedwhiz.com/elder.htm

The first is more or less what I described, but without the boundaries of measurements to fuck things up. I don't believe in ketchup on que so much so the 2nd does nothing for me.

I learned this trick in college at a BBQ cook-off: most squeeze bottle are 12 oz., so all you have to do is put a heaping spoon (since most eating spoons are about a tablespoon) each of sugar and powdered chiles in the bottle and fill it full of vinegar. Never heard of putting hot sauce in there too, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

That would work. Vinegar is pretty capable of absorbing sugar and the amount of heat can always be doctored. Mine would be way hotter.

Went to Costco, eh?

Forshizzle. It works out after tax to be the same price as online.

Matt can I rely on a trajectory chart with the ammo I intend on using for bullet drop, or will I need to measure it out at a range?

Starting to get the moa and mils figured out.

Ill mostly be using 8.5 x 11 for targets, so I plan on making a simple chart with mils to distance in yards with 11*27.77 / milincrements = distance yards.

Start with a known dope sheet for your barrel length and caliber/load. You will need to test in reality. Elevation(AKA air density) makes a difference even. I think you said. 308 is your choice and i gaurentee you can even find AZ. 308 dope sheets online for what ever ammo you buy!

AZ is a popular shooting place.

Do you know of any suppressors for 308 that are decent, and under $500? Clamp on, or threaded.

I don't plan on getting one now, but down the road, and I can get the rem 700 in a version with a threaded barrel.

Price not including tax and paperwork fees from atf.

Yep 308. Ill look around for that.

I need to get a reloading kit too, any brands I should stay away from, or check out?

It can take 2 years for a stamp if you are unlucky. But AAC is well loved. I think you posted a video from them. The article I directed you to about practical long range shooting s written by a guy who is involved with g thundeast I think.

Dillon or RCBS. All dies should be RCBS from what I have learned. R2 has a Dillon I believe. My buddy purchased their top of the line reloaded but hasn't used it.

I'm sure he will now that he moved to a more gun friendly state

Stefan, most of what I tell you is only second hand info. I do not have that much experience shooting far out. Only iron sights or tactical low power glass. 200 yards maybe. Other than that is has been with friends hunting set ups. A lot of 300win mag and 7mm mag. Stupid high power with no break and shitty glass. Like $150 shitty.

I'm being candid with you though in what I have experienced in that I made a lot of poor purchases. I love my AR-10 but it isn't the "last rifle" or caliber like I thought it would be. I also know from the hunting rifles what I do and don't want.

What I am saying is use my advice as a certain in mistakes, but just well educated in good decisions.

My scope may be in the top level of price but it has never been over a rifle.

:-)

Next few weeks..... I'm shopping though.

I watched the rocky horror picture show so I am now an alien transvestite.

Only issue is out here where Stefan, Myself, and ricksi are there are HUGE changes in elevation in just a few small miles.

Stefan if you want to test some shit out and not have to pay for anything but ammo lemme know a day u wanna head down here. I can get ya on an outdoor range and get a variety for ya.

I am so jealous. That is cool of you J.

MN has so little shooting space. Trees everywhere doesn't allow to long shooting lanes. I wouldn't give it up for the desert, but I would like longer ranges to shoot.

Sweet, ill hit you up once I get everything.

I actually found there's a public range about five minutes from my house, and it goes out 200y.

So I have quite a few options fortunately.

Ill still likely do most shooting nonrange, but range will be nice for zeroing in

John Carter (the movie) in 3D is pretty dope

We call it a range.........Its just a huge amount of space we can shoot in. Its a perk of having a friend who owns acres and acres between himself and his family.

That's sweet, I've seen a lot of people on the forums in the midwest that shoot on their land, for as far as they can see.

One guy moved out near SF in cali, near the agriculture area, rural, tons of land to shoot, said there was tons of different game, and then he'd take a 45minday train ride and be in the center of SF.

Made me so jealous.
