had a honda like that, bad #1 cylinder blow by

my dual 12AU7 preamp arrived today, looks really sweet.

now I'm debating selling my 6BQ5 single-ended amp and going balls out with a 2A3 SET...3.5w of raw, grunting, triode power...anybody need an amp to buy?

yeah, but you probably don't have the right speakers for it

If you have over 92dB/W efficient speakers, and don't need to run a party with it, anything under 5 watts is plenty.

actually, my amp wouldn't sound too bad if you bought another one and bridged them as monoblocks on your regular, run-of-the-mill 87dB/W bookshelf speaker variety.

Would probably be more expensive than just getting high-eff speakers though.

Most people can't make the distinction between car and home audio, let alone the upper echelon devices you are using. Low power is plenty in the house and reference levels at 120dB are downright killer.

ryan..sucks about the cutty...but even with routine oil changes there is a chance of that..especially if earlier changes were done using whatever oil was the cheapest at the time...

my grandpa used ot use just quaker state in his old 73 chevy p/u with a 350....he started to lose pressure at colder temps(meaning, once it got warmed up, it was ok..not great)...we pulled the covers...total sludge. and he changed his every 3k and only used quaker state..

oh well, gives u sumdin to do..

Yeah, although the accessory electrical system has been on the fritz lately. My original battery terminals are starting to go, I think I need to finally stop being a cheapass and wire them correctly with real battery terminals.

A wash/dry, clay bar, wash/dry, cleaner, swirl/scratch remover, polish and 2 layers of sealant took up my afternoon so far ... taking a break because my arms are going to fall off. Even with the PC and rotary, I still like to do a little buffing by hand.

2-6(depending on my attitude) more coats of glaze and 2 coats of wax.

Pain in the ass.

I broke the bolt holding the stock terminal on so I half assed some wrong-sized bolt on there with a nut. It's not doing it's job at all - if it weren't for the weight of the 1/0 and 8 gauge coming off it it (+ the fuseholders that are maybe 5" away) ... it could easily pop off the top.

Steve, I recommend not washing again after Claying. It will re-contaminate the paint unless you use a distilled water. Not that big of a deal, but if you're anal like I am, you take every step to avoid any contamination. And, BTW, I do it ALL by hand.. May be why it takes me 5 days just to clean the exterior. Don't even get me started on the interior.

Not that big of a deal, but if you're anal like I am, you take every step to avoid any contamination. And, BTW, I do it ALL by hand.. May be why it takes me 5 days just to clean the exterior. J/K. I have the fortune of being the son of a long time body man. The old man taught me all the good tricks. Been using clay bars before they were available on a consumer level. Although, they were larger and seemed to do a better job with less work.

fudge sakes ... didn't even think that far ahead to realize that I would be re-contaminating the paint. Oh well, I won't do it next time - thanks for the heads up!

It'll take me a few days now to get the exterior looking great.

The couple hours available tonight will be spent ... probably just vacuuming.

It seems impossible to spruce my black (vinyl type material) dashboard up and keep it looking good ... Armor All just doesn't seem to cut it there.

My friend will be getting his car painted black and i would like for that paint job to last. Teach him the tricks and what to use so it blings like no other.
