  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

Supa_c = teh worthless.

Steve - that almost makes me want to break out my Penn loaded with 7lb test on a Shakespeare light-action Ugly Stik and do some freshwater fishing. I don't have a valid license anymore, but w/e ;):lol2: I have a 12 foot one I use for surfcasting (bluefish, king mackerel, stripers mostly) but it's been ages since I've been to the beach.

IMO, spinning reels (like that one) > baitcasting. At least for sheer casting distance.

Time to go to chipotle

We don't have chipotle here, but we do have Cookout...real grilled burgers, grilled chicken, fries, floats, hushpuppies...24/7. I think I might make a run tonight.

In fact, I might go fishing Sunday.

Just have to avoid the game wardens, hehe...

might swap the 1300C out for the 250X, we'll see - the 250X seems like a tank compared to the other one.

You don't need much for freshwater...unless you're going after pike or something ;)

Sturgeon in the river here. Most of them have three eyes and are missing a fin here and there.

The plant here made heavy water and such for years. Dumped slag and other byproducts, sulphur, mercury, and other toxic things into the river for years.

There's a few rainbows, but I wouldn't do any more than touch them wearing a glove and let them go.

Anybody have any personal experiences with bipole speakers?

I've read enough technical background and experiences from others to know what to expect, but I was just curious if anyone here has built/used one...

I had a set of Polks I got from Crutchfield in my first HT setup before I knew any better. IMO, properly designed monopoles will get it done without the added complexity.

Trail Smelter v. US in the late '40s was a landmark case in international environmental law - don't know if that's the plant you're talking about, but when you gave me your address, I recognized it.

That's sad. Rainbows are one of my favorite freshwater fish - good looking, better eating :) Trout tastes so good grilled with the skin still on the back, with breadcrumbs, lemon and dill...

Agreed, but I've got a few things to consider.

1. To drop the final impedance down to 4 ohms, I need two drivers per channel.

2. Because of imaging problems, having two drivers on one baffle isn't feasible, or very easily done full-range. To wire them as a "1.5" way with one taking over lower frequencies requires a crossover, something I'm loathe to do.

3. From my reading, bipole/dipole speakers, while harder to place because of their needed seperation from the wall, will provide a wider and more diffuse soundstage, removing some of the problems with "midrange shout" that full range drivers often encounter.

Known as Cominco back then, Teck Cominco now. Still quite a fair size company in Canada..

dontcha love when u have this big anticipation for a sneeze and then boom, u let it go. feels so good. when that happens and i dont sneeze, i get angry.

you have to savor that anticipation...

i honestly do. then the big climax hits. and the great satisfaction after youve spit everywhere.

i remember in highschool my friends thought it would be funny to try and sneeze on each other...high schoolers.
