I called my friend today and to my suprise he had gotten a ticket.

He was out past curfew for under age drivers.

He said he was driving 11:30, i think the curfew at 11:00

So the cop pulled him over and gave him a ticket for driving after curfew.

Might i add, he has been out well past 11:30 before.

So i talked to him about it and he told me that the cop said it was a $400 ticket.

Right there i instantly thought....no way in hell thats a $400 ticket.

He couldve been doing 40mph over the limit and not get a ticket for that much.

Does anyone have a general idea on how much this would cost.

Obviously he is going to fight it.

Sad thing is he will be turning 18 on the 21st of sept

Up here in BC you can't get pulled over for "driving past your curfew". The officer will pull you over for speeding, realize you are past the curfew, and write you up for both. With the rules up here you're only allowed certain people in the car at certain times of your licensing stage ... so you can't get pulled over for having too many people in the car, but you can get pulled over for driving like an idiot (or even having a broken turn signal) ... then you're getting drilled with the too many passengers fine as well.

$400 seems very steep. You can try the old write a cheque for $405.26, let them write you a cheque back for $5.26, and never cash that cheque ... case never closes until all financial transactions are complete.

I'm not at work so I can't just look up the specific fine for your area ... but if it truly is $400 and he got the ticket because he was out past curfew ... you know how it goes.

Can try and fight it and see if the cop shows up, or maybe the judge will reduce it if you have some bloody damn well good excuses as to why you were out (make sure they are related to the area he was pulled over in).

Don't walk into court with the attitude that "fudge you, you stupid pig ... you pulled me over because I looked underage and you were just in a ticket-writing mood that night." $400 fine is work 'lawyering up' he has a close family friend or whatever. My guess is that the officer seen your friend, or thought he seen your friend / was a plain dick, doing something else other than obeying the rules of the road, decided to pull him over, didn't have enough on him to write a ticket for wreckless driving, and wrote the ticket for driving past curfew.

Remember what I was saying about me and amplifiers being like Nick and subs?

Here's my latest project...

single-ended 6BQ5's running in pentode mode...good for around 5wpc. Looks like the power tranny has a little wear on it, but a few coats of Rustoleum should make it nice and shiny again.

It's going to be paired with the NAD 3020 working as a preamp and the bipole cabs that Kent built. 5 watts into 94dB/W per side should be good, right now it's just going to be handling TV/movie audio :)

no idea, see if there's anything interesting going on around here that doesnt involve getting wasted with a bunch of idiots

how long did that take to make???

Everytime my dad comes home from his job in new york, my mom is always super nice to me. I think shes scared i'm going to like him more and leave her. Anyone else have parents that do that kind of sutff? How do you handle it when she starts asking if you like her better?

dont dissapoint her...tell her u like her more

whats up with Kojac and the lollypops?

They didn't have PCB's in the '30s, so you don't need them today for that :) Makes replacing components a hell of a lot easier when you don't have to worry about substrate traces or surface-mount components or chit like that :) Just solder and go...

one good thing about living in the dorms...

The benefits still outweigh the inconviences :)

im doing a weird mix of PCB and P2P for my x-overs, just need somewhere to freakin solder

perhaps, we'll see in a year though

You could simply go to Radioshack and get some perfboard for the Xovers...hot glue and zipties are all you really need.

You could solder in your dorm room...I did it last year a few times to repair chit.

If you have a window fan, set it to full exhaust, and work carefully near the window.
