Kent, if you have downtime, you might as well go for show/kickass mix.

fab up your own side saddle seats melded into a central enclosure. cheap, if you dont count the labor You put into it.

Yes, 307. I was under the impression all SB GM motors are pretty much the same, however, my old man is telling me the Olds and Pontiac motors are totally different. And he has far more experience and knowledge than I.

Not to say he isn;t wrong though.

not tottally different. small things. water jackets, head passages, a few bolt patterns (rare).

I know inherent differences, but with this Olds motor, I have no experience nor knowledge.

i had an '86 w/307 in her. didnt get to wrench a whole lot on her though.

i'm just not for sure if i wanna sink all that effort in to it

besides..this week i'm on days, next week could be midnights and the week after that evenings..so tearing into something that labor intensive could be problematic..ya know?
