Today = 33*C, no clouds, no wind, high humidity ... It sucks ...

I DO NOW!

I'm such a bastard

I like a long, grantoned slicer myself

Nice to have, but it isn't really all that often that I need one. Curious as to what you use yours for?

cutting roasts mostly. no piece of cutlery I own has ever been over 50 dollars though

<-- doesn't like roast beef

Stupid thunderstorms, made it to the lake unlocked the boat, made a few casts, caught two bass, and then lightening. Walked back to the house and now I bet it will blow over, but all the fish will be laid up and skeered.

your weather is screwy

it's been pretty "cloudy" the last couple days and it makes me excited for rain, but then I remember it's actually from a large brush fire west of town

this year it has been really nuts

I also agree that I don't like serrated knives either Matt, but there are many times that it is the right tool for the job and should be used. Things that are partially frozen are much better "sawed", hard vegetables like squash are easier and safer to cut with a serrated knife, delicate things as well for instance a really ripe tomato or piece of fresh bread.

bah even with really ripe tomatoes, if my knife can't cut it then i figure i haven't sharpened it well enough. I just hate sawing through any damn thing but i guess partially frozen foods would benefit from it.

Try and cut the top out of a squash with a non-serrated once and you will be scared for your fingers.

<-- could easily spend $300 on one knife, but hasn't yet :)

I forget the cost but there is a nice big ken onion knife that I liked for kitchen knifes. The unique shape of the blade was really versitile.

I have a nice wustof set, and I used the asain style kitchen knife more than the rest by 2 fold easily.

The Ken Onion Shun's are about $250, but can be bought for 2 bills if you look. Thought about one myself but go back and forth on whether I prefer the Santoku or not
