But is it a friction modifier for a LSD though? Just curious...

LSD is the only one that needs the friction modifier.

For some reason I was thinking of Transmission fluids where there are different friction additives, (Type F vs Dextron III for example)

kinda off base a bit, but tom is the only person i've ever seen go AGAINST royal purple. i've read/seen nothing but good things about it. it's what is in my bro-in-laws stang too....

I think the problem is that RP is really designed for racing use. Yeah, it'll unleash power, but for street driving, it doesn't have the wear protection needed. I've seen a couple T56s taken apart with fucked up synchros because of RP.

It was my understanding that Lucas wasn't really a good lubricant and shouldn't be used.

If RP is too much, I'd just do the Mobil Synth

And if synth is out, then Castrol

I have used cast GTX for years for oil, untill now I use synth on everything. For motor oil is RP all it's cracked up to be?

IMO, unless you beat the piss out of your car the price performance of GTX is hard to beat. Personally even if I use synth in a car I change it so often that the benefits over normal oil in good condition is non-existent. Castrol takes more abuse than most and the only real advantage of synth is that it doesn't breakdown and lose lubrication. Well if you don't let normal oil breakdown, who the fuck cares whether it is synth or not.

The caveat of course is if I have a really expensive engine. IE the M5 gets synth as the extra cost in this case gives me piece of mind, which of course is contrary to my statement above but the last thing I want to have happen is for me to drive that thing hot with crapped out oil in it. And considering everytime I drive her it is hard it seems worthwhile.

That's for the tip in the RP. I might try it in my truck just to see once. GTX has always been my go to, but I really like synth. Maybe it's just in the winter, and I do go a bit over the recomended in the expy.

There is a part of me that want's that 5.2 to give up.
