  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

Saw this linked earlier, this car gives me wood

"V10 in a box" haha. Man, a V10 in that little-ish car is crazy.

That's not even right. I hope they threw some ballast in the ass end of that.

That V10 is "only" 530 lbs, the diesel option in that car was 450lbs. I couldn't find the weight of the straight 6 gas engine but I think it is close.

Not that I wouldn't want them to balance the car, but considering the engine placement is pulled back and pretty low I bet that thing is a hoot to drive....even if it is severely traction limited.

yep

Considering it's a <3L six cylinder iron block alloy head motor it can't be much more than 400, if that...

the 3 point safety belt turns 50 today...apparently...

If you want to save weight. Run the calculations and do testing to see how much steel you need in the suspension and frame. Test the crap out if it. Are what breaks and what doesn't. What doesn't take material out of and need up what does break. Find a happy medium in there that you can live with.

Use heat treated chrome moly frame. Not just chromemoly get someone who can actually weld and make that frame as light as possible.

What materials can they use?

This is rather off the wall, but have you considered Bamboo? It's super light, super-strong, and should be able to take the weight of one man and an engine.

The frame must have the equivalent strength of some certain size steel. These things do get the shit beat out of them at the test. There were people who's shocks got ripped in two.

We are doing all of the things you mentioned Ryan2. I'm just in charge of the drivetrain.

MK, if this is anything like the engineering exercises/competitions I've been involved with/heard about. It's just as important (if not more so) to justify your engineering choices than to perform well. You have to explain why you chose the parts you did. And not just "cause this one looked better." It needs to be like the Z will experience X newtons so that it needs to be strong enough to withstand Y cycles based on so and so's theory of fatigue. If you can't do the calculations (you should be able to come up with some approximating equations to get some idea), then you better be able to bullshit in a way that sounds technical.

It's some real nice work. REAL nice work.

I just don't think that was a good car to do it all to. I don't like the way it looks lol

Bitch of a job to glass :(

Prepping work took waaaay over one hour and only 30 minutes to lay the fiberglass

Needs 1 or 2 more layers in some areas and then it's out to trim and see how I can attach the baffle to the fiberglass for the tuning stages.

and another crappy night of sleep. Awesome.

At least it's Friday.

Supposed to start getting awesome outside though. High of only around 80-82 for the 10 days after tomorrow :)

Finally can break out the fishing pole again, which has been in the corner of my room since I moved in three weeks ago. Or the golf clubs, which have been right next to it.

True, my guess as well but I couldn't find it but did find the diesel which was available in the same chassis.

welp, time to hit the ole dusty trail....

graduation weekend, shoop de wooooooooooooooooooop

They still have the Ono dB? If so, my bet is that if you Macadamia/Panko crust it and cook it in a light pan of olive oil that the non-fish eaters will love it.

i shall keep my eye out for it when i got next. i got 2 pounds of scallops and i ate half last night. olive oil, a little white wine, perfect buttery, garlic, and onion flavor amount. ohm nomnomnom

i had some snap peas with it
