May 14, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the ideas! I have tried rear firing and lost 2db ea. time I turned it around.(3 diff. boxes)I am looking into center port designs both slot and aero's and have another box being built going back to a 10in w port( lost .8 shrinking to 9 and making a bigger common chamber). I feel like a 51+ with one amp is poss. just need to work on gains within the vehicle i.e. deadening doors, roof etc..Always looking for new ideas! Keep them coming.!!!
May 14, 200916 yr Wow, i'm surprised you lost that much!try using as many runs of speaker wire that can possibly fit. brush resin in the port and in the entrance... and the whole inside of the box. round all corners, get the inside super slick.Another thing that takes a LOT of testing is port area. Just like an exhaust system, too little and too much will both cause a drop in output. Gotta find that sweet spot.I might be wrong but if you keep adding more and more sound deadening to the car, doesn't that lower the peak in your car? That, of course, would be a bad thing if it's true.
May 17, 200916 yr I have 2 10's and am did a 150.4 at the head last year in MECA out of the trunk of a cavalier and am probably over a 151 this year but am only limited too a single 30 amp fuse and when I switch amps I should be close too a 152 as long as I dont run into power compression

May 19, 200916 yr my bad you have to go to the 2008 season because this year I have to run a 30 amp fuse in that class which is why the scores you saw were so low but if you look at the last show of 2008 you will see that I hit a 150.4 so if you click on the link again then select the 2008 season you will see it
May 19, 200916 yr BDunn23 did do a 150 out of the trunk last year I was there and witnessed it. He also beat me and I was in the same class s1. I got 3rd. Here is a link if you don't believe. http://www.mecacaraudio.com/eventresults.aspx?eventid=768I had 2 10'' hdc3's on 2 sundown 1500's but could only post a 146.9. That was at 34hz though and the setup I ran daily. I got it to do a 147.5 before but that was with great weather and not 30 degrees like at MECA finals. These scores also were at the headrest and not the dash.
May 20, 200916 yr Author Anyone have a pic or could take a pic of how to meter correctly at the headrest like MECA? I would love to see what the difference is as to the dash.bdunn care to share pics of your setup? Very Nice Job Sir!The Gator Dance

From what I can tell scores at the headrest are usually down compared to the dash. Here is what the meter stand looks like.http://www.mecacaraudio.com/2009mecarulebo...Stand%20p47.pdf

There really isn't a fair comparrison unless you were to swap sub boxes. I've heard quite a few MECA guys say that their cars actually get quieter at the dash then what they do at the headrest. Please prove me wrong by showing a 2 or 3 db gain from your headrest to the dash.I know in my car with the dash score I'm almost 3 db down at the headrest, but that's not where I have it set up to peak at.
May 21, 200916 yr Author Thanks for your input Zach! I think you need to update your sig though. Arent you past that 151.1 in the lanes!?!Team High X-Cursion in the House

If you want to be competitive then build for the org. you compete in, it makes since. Also I wasn't talking about a huge difference maybe a db or so. This also depends on the vehicle more than anything. I know my car would go down at the dash because I am tuned low and my box is not designed for dash scores. Me and my team were actually going to see what we all did at the dash but just haven't had a chance yet. I do know though my teammate Derek who has an explorer with 2 sundown ns 12's and 2 1500's does a 150.5 at the headrest and a 151.7 on the dash with the same setup.
