Or for whom ever QC's the subs. It looks like someone missed the mounting holes when gluing the surrounds on my SSD's! I can't forsee any performance issues arising from it. I'm sure the critical tolerances are right where they should be :) Just a FYI, Carl.

Will not hurt anything. Most subs like this do not even have the cutouts for the mounting holes.

Just watch the surround as the screw tightens down and make sure the foam does not start to twist or wrinkle.

just poke holes right there with a knife or somthing before you put screws in. if you havent already

I had a slight casting flaw on my basket, where the mounting hole was. I had to ''hole punch'' one mounting hole to remove some excess material on the back side basket. No big deal to me though

i have seen a topic where a young man used all 6 screw holes....... on a AA 8 inch ..... the surround only had 4 holes.... anyhow the young mans surround riped in a matter of a month......

these wont do the same?

any why not? whats the diffrence.

None of the subs I have ever ordered from Adire, RE, Fi, or AA have the holes already in the surround. Half the time the rubber gaskets are not even in the correct place.

Punch the holes, screw'em down.

I have used washers under the screw heads before on smaller drivers to keep it from twisting the surround lose as the head tightened against it.

Thats sucks hopefully it doesn't affect anything.

I'm sure it'll be fine. The whole point of my post was to let Fi know. If they put cuts in the surround that should line up with the holes in the basket then I would think they would line up. Otherwise, why put them there? It just makes you wonder what else isn't lined up that you can't see. I'm still an FI fanboy, this was just an FYI.

There is no reason to even care if the holes line up. The only thing that matters is that it's properly centered and symmetrical. Let me say this again, it's not that it will make a little difference, it WILL NOT make a difference, period. If you want them to spend the extra time to line up holes when gluing surrounds pay the extra $$, hell for enough money they'll custom drill mounting holes however you want.

I guess you missed the posts where I said "I can't forsee any performance issues arising from it" and "I'm sure It'll be fine". This was an "FYI" thread, not an "am I going to have a problem with my driver " thread.

Don't be a douchebag, in your post right above mine you insinuate that because the screw holes aren't lined up that there may be other serious issues with the driver. Perhaps you missed your own post?

my holes lined up on both my bl's

alright guys, take it down a notch..im not a moderator or anything but this seems to be getting out of hand. All he was saying was that the mounting holes dont line up. thats it thats all...he also mentioned that the POSSIBILITY of something else could be wrong with it but he wasnt putting it down in stone. He just mentioned it...if you buy a car brand new car and the stereo doesnt want to turn on...wouldnt you wonder for 1 second that there could POSSIBLY be something else wrong?

this is just an FYI thread...he was merely pointing out that fact. THATS IT THATS ALL.

That's fine until someone else reads his thread and thinks, hmm i wonder what else they didn't line up then buys anther sub because of it. Then it's a legal issue where fi could sue him or the board for allowing the misinformation to stand. Yes it's libel with a good enough lawyer.

Him stating that the surround is off is fine, but suggesting that someone else may be torn up isn't. If he was asking if everything was ok that'd be fine, but FYI'ing the board members isn't necessary if he wanted to FYI scott he could have e-mailed fi.

Nice, very informative.

If you have a comment/question/concern so feeble as this, please just email Fi instead of making any kind of deal about it on the board. They should make keyboards harder to operate for this very reason.
