Posted January 31, 200520 yr Okay, I am a SQ person, so I'm not necessarily hip on loudness. SO, my buddy calls me up today and he wants me to look for something LOUD. Three 12s or Two 15s at least. Will be run by a pair of JL 1000/1s. First off, he gave me a budget of $450 for drivers. I need something that will fit in about 10 cubes, no more. THis is of course net displacement. He care nothing of sound guality. He just wants to get loud. Street beating, no fart cannons please. So I leave it in the hands of you, those who like it cranked. Don't let me down! His previous install was two 12W6v2s and they got pretty loud, but not enough for him.
January 31, 200520 yr u are describing teh living enviroment so preferred by kicker L7's...lol..large and loud!!! dunno if u can find a pair of 15's for...wait...hmmm....$450 plus shipping maybe?? i know of a pair BNIB of 15" L7's, dvc4 and they are the better looking black ones!!also, memphis mojo's..but u're not going to find them for that money...also, maybe powerbass xs series?the L7's are going to be hard to beat though..i'm waiting on a call back about the L7's...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
January 31, 200520 yr L7's on ebay are cheap. Last years would be underbudget ... this years would be 50 bucks over or so. I'd rather get a warranty if he wants to beat the piss out of these.I'll look for some old DD drivers, etc on other forums. Even Shocker I guess. Termpro Marketplace has lots of stuff right now.- Steve
January 31, 200520 yr if you decide on the XS let me know ill get them for you at compeditor/accomidation pricing
January 31, 200520 yr L7's on ebay for 149.95 but it now. the link is on CarSound's for sale section. A post started by Ryan Ferguson. I'll look in a minute. You can get pretty f'n loud with 2kw & 10 cubes. To the ear/butt, not the mic.As a matter of fact... I know of two drivers that would work really well in that environment What kind of car/truck? Woofers up? into the cabin through rear bulkhead? c'mon... give some info.
January 31, 200520 yr Author Driver can point in any direction. 77 Caprice convertible. Huge trunk, top takes up very little room when down.
January 31, 200520 yr Author MAn, the PBs, how could I forget Trixter's review. Now that I think about it, thew Rl-ps are right in the budget too, and require less room. Choices choices!
January 31, 200520 yr nice car...Hmmm... In trunk installs I like to run a 4th order BP, depending on the woofer. Place the drivers in a sealed box firing rear, 4-6" from the cone you begin the ported chamber / port. With the port basically running between the driver's seperate sealed and into the cabin. It's more or less my take on the "Wicked One" decware design. It's gotten plenty, plenty loud. LoL. Put up a 147.x legal on the TL last fall in the Grand Am 4door.
January 31, 200520 yr thinks of a two woofer enclosure with a slot port in the middle. but the slot port is too long, so You "T" it. Point the whole thing into the cabin. Now, move the woofer's onto the outjutting 'port' boards and fire them back.Make sense? I suck at sketching on MS paint.
January 31, 200520 yr Author It will be a nice big vented enclosure. Gonna keep it simple for him. He has to work with it once I leave, so I'd rather KISS.
January 31, 200520 yr Author ONly problem with firing anything into the cabin is the only feasible way is to go through the seat. Can't do that obviously. Convertible top takes up what would normally be the rear deck.
January 31, 200520 yr thats one of the reasons for the above BP, you only have to make an opening for the slot port seriously though, there should be no problem firing it rear. Just leave a good 8" between the face & the absolute rear. Preferably, leave airspace (1-2") around the box sides & top for the wave path to at least hit the rear seat.
January 31, 200520 yr cheap, cheap L7 12"s:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5745996957&rd=1
February 1, 200520 yr MAn, the PBs, how could I forget Trixter's review. Now that I think about it, thew Rl-ps are right in the budget too, and require less room. Choices choices!honestly, the rl-p 15's in about 2.5ft^3, a piece ,tuned to about 34hz would work..and he'd get some sq as well..lol...what kinda price is powerbass offering with the competitor pricing offer? those would make a kewl setup...get 15" whatever..no replacement for displacement on da street baby!!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 1, 200520 yr Admin the RL-p's or XS' would be sweet maybe TeamSSAudio.com could build the box!!
