so yeah, if this is a really stupid idea, ill prob put some bolts through my box for terminals, what type of finish should they be? zinc, stainless? anybody have a pic of theirs?

It isn't a bad idea it just ruins aesthetics if the port is in view. If your going to use bolts you want to use something without a coating on the metal, Ive used brass on a couple boxes that I decided to go that route on.

Lots of people run the wire through the port. If you don't mind the way it looks, just do it.

The speaker wire will blow out of the port and catch on fire if you do that...

If you don't mind seeing the wire coming out of the port, then it is absolutely fine. Many people do it.

I like using bolts.

drill a whol run your wire through and pack it with silocone

It also helps if someone breaks in your whip and runs away with the box, and then gets yanked by the speaker wire.
