Posted February 8, 200520 yr Admin ok the pups are here (see show off section)ok I wanted to go with the smallest ported box design for them, if not small sealed, need help with the design...I am not worried about space with my vehicles, but I might put the box into my girls civic, and not much space to work with,hoping for suggestions from the designers they will be powered by an RF 250a2 @4ohms mono for now (shown below) {334 watts benched, meaning 83.4 watts per sub, a little over the rms, but I can back the gains down}
February 8, 200520 yr D.- you looking for for get loud? nice daily? SPL?For the Pups being so small & inefficient... I'm going with about 0.3ft^3 per 8".I have two, going ported in 0.75ft^3 with 8in^2 for port tuned to 58hz.But i'm looking at cooking the little guys on the 2500D w/60hz tones...
February 8, 200520 yr Author Admin I am looking to not blow them up and get the best sound out of them, so I would tune low as possible, not expecting much just want to build something for fun
February 8, 200520 yr They can actually take a good beatingAaron, i used a MA Audio M1889i ( listed in credits)
February 8, 200520 yr i'd say prolly around the .5-.75ft^3 nick suggested..tuned 40-45hz32in^2 of port total should be plenty in a shared chamber design..that would be my recommendation..cuzfunky pups go boom like soooowheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 8, 200520 yr 32 sq in of port for a 0.75 ft^3 box?? yeesh... that's a mile long port. LoL.To put in a trunk car & sound decent, I would look for 0.75ft^3 with around 15in^3 of port tuned to mid 30's. It should keep your inbox impedance high enough to work with that amp as well. Assuming that you running them @ 1ohm nominal.

February 8, 200520 yr Author Admin oh I fixed the mrspam img in the sig for ya thanks... what was wonrg? i had the right code in... is it cause of being in a sig line?I think in sigs you need to use tags instead of the board emoticons, there might be a setting some where I can adjust

February 8, 200520 yr Author Admin meh.. so long as it works. thanks.*What doyah like for tuning? And you want to go with the 32sq in of port as Kent suggested?*I dont need to but if you two feel that is the best length to go with that cool, seems kinda long for this size boxand tuning I should go on the lower side to save some possible SQ
February 8, 200520 yr no, i too think it is WAY too much port for this enclosure. especially for these "woofers"... I was thinking 12 sq. in's max. tuned around 32-36hz.
