Posted February 12, 200520 yr Hello folks I never before came across Power Bass until I joined this fine forum. I have heard a lot of woofers at the top of their game throughout the years (SI Magnums, Incriminator Audio DP's, RE XXX's, DD's and so on) but I have never heard 1. Power Bass2. Sound Splinter I realise there arent too many people out there who have heard all of the above woofers, but could somebody give me a pointer as to how the best woofer from companies 1 & 2 would fare up against the tried and testted super-subs, like the SI Magnum (great SQ/LSQ/SPL driver, the best all rounder I have come across) and the Incriminator Audio Death Penalty (mad streetbass sub that gets stinking loud!).....Anybody?
February 12, 200520 yr I know that Kent (mrray13) has good experience with a few of those brands. There are many others here. Try Tirefyre. -or-Just wait till they read & reply LoLI've played with most except the two that you're inquiring about (I've also missed out on SI, but I'm fixing that).-Nick
February 12, 200520 yr Admin so far the SoundSplinter RL-p has gotten great reviews, the Power Bass PR is the sub that is their all out SQL I believe, but it is breand new to market I hope to be testing an XS soon to give you guys a review
February 12, 200520 yr hey..i know for a fact (of my opinion..lol) the rl-p will hang with the xxx. i own both. i wish i could hear a brahma..si d2 so i could tell u how the rl-p stacks up...but i'd imagine they would be pretty damn close!i know this much..the xxx is for sale, the rl-p is off limits to even me..lol (currently located in my wife's car and i am no longer allowed access to it)wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 12, 200520 yr Soon to have experience with PB. None with SS, but going on just Kent's word, I know they are performers. Now, between the Brahma, XXX, and Magunms I've had, I prefer the Magnums. You could say I'm biased, but I had the XXX and Brahma first. People said going to the Magnum would be a step down in performance. I haven't been happier.
February 12, 200520 yr Author So nobody can gimme a straight answer then. Great On a serious note, whilst the XXX is a good sub you cannot knock, I find this whole XBL2 thing a liitle clinical to my ears. This is where teh Mag excels. Its much warmer and blends in soooooooo well with most fronts Its a true LSQ woofer. Oh and it doesnt weigh 40lbs+ either The IA DP is a different best. It gets uncomfortably loud and absolutely stomps. Its a helluva streetbeater and has dman good SQ for a sub that takes like a DEI 2500d+ per coil straight outta the box. Lemme know about SS/PB whenever anybody has a listen. Im curious to say the least
February 12, 200520 yr in my experience, i prefer the sound of the rl-p over the xxx. i agree with u that the xbl^2 is a lil overrated at the moment. maybe one day technology will catch up with hype. but as of right now, underhung motor's, IMO, sound better. i've tested them in both sealed (1.25ft^3) and ported (2.5ft^3 tuned to 30hz[re recommended] and 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz) with power levels of 750wrms and 1200wrms. i've even thrown 2500wrms at the xxx and it didn't like it at all. there is even a thread here about it.also, the rl-p and early magnums are both based off the tc9 motor. so in all actuality, they should be really close in performance. the main difference being the mag uses a paper/pulp/kevlar cone(correct?) and the rl-p uses an aluminum one. surrounds/spiders might be different as well.what i know is this..the rl-p played lower then the xxx sealed regardless of power and more then kept up with it in ported. i think the xxx gets a lil louder, but that's it. the rl-p gets plenty loud..an all out sql woofer.and the xxx a woofer one can't knock?? lol...for it's price and bandwagon, it sure didn't live up to the hype. the 10" solox i'm currently running in 2.25ft^3 tuned to 36hz gets way lower, is way louder and almost sounds as nice. no chit. and i can get it for real close to the price of an xxx. and it's getting 2.5kwrms constantly.oh..there's lots to knock about the xxx, it's far from bieng perfect. i just hope the new SI drivers don't perform the way the xxx does. that would be a major letdown.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 12, 200520 yr i just hope the new SI drivers don't perform the way the xxx does. that would be a major letdown.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Actually, they will perform better. At least that's what all indications are leaning towards as of now. No XBL^2 here, still underhung.
February 12, 200520 yr My friend is running 3 of the 12" evolution series pbx subs in a sealed enclosure off of a mtx 1500. I personally, think his setup is a little disappointing. It sounds pretty decent, but when you really crank it up it just isnt what you would expect it to be. On the other hand. another friend of mine is running 3 pbx xtreme 15's in a custom fiberglass sealed enclosure with a 1000w or 1500w amp each and those are f**kin insane. They play sooo low and shake the ground and every car around him when hes really got them turned up.
February 19, 200520 yr i'm extremely interested in the rl-p's. if they got the LSQ of d2's, brahma's, idmax's and xxx's, i'm in haha. really though, i need some nice twelves that wont need a bigger box than 3.6^3 net for both and have the LSQ to stomp on a w6v2...
February 19, 200520 yr who makes the rl-p? does SoundSplinter? also, is it available to the public now?
February 19, 200520 yr Yes sound splinter makes the RL-P and yes you can get one through them. Try their website.
February 20, 200520 yr Admin if you are itching for a great SQL sub, and dont want to wait for the Stereo Integrity D2, the RL-p's are a great choice
