I am gonna start a few projects and try and glass a few things, I want to put 2 8's on my rear deck and something upfront to put the tweets on the dash. I can't put them in the A-Pillars so I was going to put them in the corners of the dash and I want them to look clean.

I was wondering what kind of resin and bonding agent? I think you mix the resin and something else before you put it on the fabric, I read about it a while ago and I will go over it again because I don't remember much. Just thought some of you guys would have some tips on how to do this... I've got some pretty good ideas to actually design it but I will touch back to see if it is plausible...

MEKP(very small quantities) and polyester resin + fiberglass

Just follow the directions on the bottle/cans for the mixing ratio's. Cut the mat into small sections, wear long sleeves or a full jump suit. Stuff is a bitch to get off your skin, also wear a breathing mask. Made me high as a kite and gave me a headache because I was too damn cheap and lazy to get one. Yea I heard it is time consuming and can be pretty aggrivating.

Also remember you may have to double the hardener if its cold. On a hot ( 90 degrees) day you can add about half of the hardener. On a cold (40-50 degrees) day you may end up having to double the hardener to get it to set in a reasonable time. I learned this the hard way doing some fiberglass in the winter time. Not that we really have winter in Cali, but it was about 50 degrees and the cure time was about 8x as long as in the summer.

Somebody told me once that it is better to use a heat gun to speed up the curing process in the cold, rather than adding more mekp. Something about adding to much mekp runs a risk of making the resin cure more brittle and more shrinkage will occur.

i always just use the same amount of resin and wait more time, with the cold i dont wanna be out there anyway.

and for itchin, i heard to rub baby powder on your skin to keep out the fiberglass(when you sand) and its worked good for me. If you dont have any fiberglass mat, dont be like me and go to walmart and get there 3 or 4 of there little packages and think its good, i did that, i kept coming back till there was none on the shelves, i started with a pint of resin too..the place i found to get some mat is called fiberglasssite.com. I got a 25yard roll i think 4 feet wide, for around $90. i havent even put a dent in the roll yet
