December 16, 200816 yr Admin 1" MDF if you can get it is great. You would most likely depending on how your port is set up, not need bracing in it.
December 16, 200816 yr what do you think i should use?.75?i was told to go thick....Most of us use 3/4" MDF do to availability. If you have access to 1", by all means, use that!
December 16, 200816 yr Author ok, the last box i built, i used 3/4 and it worked fine...how will those dimentions work?and does anyone here have google sketchup? i built the box on there and it looks like its gonna be nice...
December 16, 200816 yr You can download google sketchup free (just search it on google). Its not to hard to figure out and comes with a tutorial.
December 16, 200816 yr Author are you telling me?i was asking if anyone had it cause i was gonna sent them my box, but you have to have sketch up to open it up
December 16, 200816 yr Sorry lol i thought you were asking someone if they had sketchup so they can design your box. Read that wrong.
December 16, 200816 yr Have you decided on the thickness of the wood your using? 1" may be a little thick for those dimensions ex your height is 16" so your internal height will be 14" and the 15" cutout diameter is 14.125" see what I'm getting at. Also using 1" wood with those dimensions you are under the minimum box requirements of 3cuft.
December 16, 200816 yr yo man, that sounds like a great box! be sure to post some pics of the build. don't forget to make sure you actually angle the box into your trunk before you have it all assembled, mine was right on the edge. almost had to grease it up to get it in
December 16, 200816 yr Author ok, ill do 3/4" woodand caligreen... the last box i built, it was 34 wide, 18 deep and 16.5 tall...we had to round the edges just to barley be able to get the beast in....as a matter of fact, i got picstures!!!!photobucket is being gey right now, and wont let to my album...but it was beautifulhere, http://www.caraudioforum.com/showthread.php?t=303255 Edited December 16, 200816 yr by sandsnip3r
December 16, 200816 yr your going to need to recalculate everything also if switching wood thickness.
December 16, 200816 yr Author i know....im already all recalculatedlolso. what frequency do i want?i listen to like all raplike 32? 33?
December 17, 200816 yr haha nice, i know what you mean about trying to cram a big box in a little japan trunk! i think you're going to like this woofer a LOT more than your type R's. now it's all about getting power into that btl because even though it's so efficient and will play very loud with very little power it will just keep getting louder and louder until you can't throw any more power at it. 33 or 34 maybe? the lower you tune the more of your box will be used as port and not airspace.
December 17, 200816 yr Author kinda confusing... :-Pwhy a double baffle?and what options should i get for the sub? ill be running it with a 2600Watt hifonics.... which probably does like 2300 or 2400 watts...
December 17, 200816 yr kinda confusing... :-Pwhy a double baffle?and what options should i get for the sub? ill be running it with a 2600Watt hifonics.... which probably does like 2300 or 2400 watts...watts = amps x volts... so unless you got a 180amp alternator and a couple runs of 1/0 i don't think you're going to get the most out of that amp, or any big amp for that matter. you're definitely going to need a couple sealed batteries to get the most out of this system, and probably a new alternator down the road. i can't even provide my sundown 1500 with enough juice lol.

December 17, 200816 yr Author well its not confusing, i just dont like the format, i had 2 45 lb subs in a singe baffle and had no probs.... idk, ill see... only if i got enough wood left on the sheetok caligreen, but what options do i want for the sub?
