I need a capable speaker I can put in my door, 6.5-8" That I can use in the stock Deville location. Will be crossed over active 80-2100ish 4th order on the high pass to a Morel MDT-12 in the a-pillar. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=277-060

Amplifier is a sundown 4100D and will be fully active using Audiocontrol or zapco x-over eq setup. I was thinking of either the Vifa P21wo-20 or something similar. I absolutely love the smoothness of the Vifa midrangers, and would like an input if somebody has something maybe a little better application wise in mind. I don't know if I can sink a 8"er in the door yet but i'll be measuring here shortly to figure out semantics...

If I have to stick with a 6.5" it will most likely be this guy...

Any other suggestions? looking to spend 200 bucks or so on the pair, less if there is better, a little more if something sticks out...

I enjoy the Mach5 MLI-65's, and that first Vifa is nice. If you can fit the TB W6 that would be very cool. Also I see a number of recommendations for the Peerless drivers: http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php...t=3a&page=2. Personally, I am a SEAS fan, and there are a number of other people on here running the SEAS mids and loving them. :)

Yeah the TB w6 looked very interesting, I have a decent amount of experience with the TB-873's in a mini line array dipole setup for my home audio frugalphile fix. They worked well, just wondering if I have that much mounting depth. I'm pulling a door panel today to verify...

I'd love to be able to fit the 8"er and will check into the seas drivers as well. Thanks for your input...

I would say go with the 6.5 and cross it over higher, Mids in the doors and tweets in the Apillar are spread to far apart and should be crossed over more around 4000-5000hz

good read man, thanks for the article! I'll probably go with the 6.5" and play with x-over frequencies in the 4000hz range then.

thanks,

Marty

Do you have to use that tweeter? I'd choose something that plays a little lower or run a 3 way, not the choice IMO for a 2 way in a car in particular with the a-pillar separation from the mid. If you have to run that Morel, the SEAS CA18rnx will probably be about your best bet. Super smooth driver that is ultra easy to integrate as well.

Nope don't have to, just liked Morel stuff in previous home audio projects i've done. I have no qualms about picking a different tweeter. chit pick me out a wonderful two way setup for my active 2 way front stage setup...I thought I had it pat...
