Hi I am getting close to getting all the pieces to start my build and now it is down to the door speakers.

It will be in a explorer and ran off a Kicker zx650.4

I have decided to get 2 pairs of MLI-65s for the front and rear.

Does anyone know some tweats that could match them good?

Price is the main concern but am willing to spend an extra dollar if it's worth it.

Also would I need a crossover and could someone point me to a few worth the price.

Thanks for any input!

Pioneer avh4000d

Roll of raamat

2 12" SSDs

Depending on you budget Kicker does make decent sounding tweeters that come with a crossover. 05KS13

those look pretty good,

should I get 2 pairs, 1 pair for the front and a pair for the back?

And would I need a 2nd pair of crossovers? or can it all be ran off 1 pair?

Thanks again

A few of us have the SEAS Neo Textile tweets matched with them. :)

I think it's the combo I'm going to be using this summer.

Depending on you preferance you could get two pair. Everybody has different preferances when it comes to doing their front stage.

As for the SEAS i am going to check them out. I am looking to replace my polks.

Which would you recomend. I am currenty looking on bmm-electronics.com

If you plan on using an active crossover for the front stage, it's going to be easier to integrate the tweeters.

You will need some sort of crossover if you choose the Seas. Can't use what came with the Polks :(

I build my own crossovers. The polks are working well, but are about 15 years old.

any1 recommend any crossovers? or are they pretty much the same thing

You can't use passives with those unless you have some custom built. Time to go active and if you were referring to the difference between actives, personally if you are new to active crossovers I'd highly encourage that you get a headunit that has them built in. MUCH easier to integrate for a n00b.

If these are what he is talking about then I agree on going active with these. :D

How would I know if my headunit has an active crossover built in?

Thanks everyone for the input

If you have the headunit number we can look it up. If not how many rca outputs does it have.

I think it has a pair of rcas for the front and a pair for the rear

I just bought some vifas D26NC55, Ive read good things about them. If for some reason I want to try another set, Im gonna try the seas neos.

I don't recommend those kicker tweeters. They are too harsh being its a metal dome tweeter IIRC. I have the kicker RS tweeters which have the textile dome much like the seas listed earlier. And they sound phenomenal. just my .02 cents

edit: i'll also be replacing my midbasses with the mach5s soon as well. And i think its going to blend really well

If you want Kicker KS is NOT where it's at. RS, old school SS (If you can snag some), or the new QS that replaced the SS. I personally run SS.
