Posted January 30, 200916 yr Got bored yesterday and decided to do somethin constructive. decided to make something so that i could use 1/0 guage on my AQ 1200, the power and ground inputs are only 4 guage
January 30, 200916 yr looks like you put alot of time into it, you know you can buy those right? but hey good way to use your spare time
January 30, 200916 yr Author looks like you put alot of time into it, you know you can buy those right? but hey good way to use your spare timenot that much time, took 30 minutes to make two of them. I know you can buy them, id rather build something my self for cheap, than pay more for something somebody else made
January 30, 200916 yr Author Nice, Have you though of a protective coating for it?i havent thought of anything yet probably try some bed liner or somethin of that sort
January 30, 200916 yr Nice, Have you though of a protective coating for it?I have made similar connectors and dipped them into rubberized tool coating.
January 30, 200916 yr Those are some good ideas, I was thinking of something cheap like a couple layers of shrink tubing.

January 30, 200916 yr You don't need anything! Fireworks if you leave them uncovered and just wait for them to touch!
January 31, 200916 yr Author Ive talked to a few people and they think it will add resistance. how would i measure that?
January 31, 200916 yr Author With a DMM. I don't think that you are going to add any resistance though.thats what i thought. i did that and it read the exact same with and without it
January 31, 200916 yr I am curious as to what you used to shape it. I typically use a lathe and milling machine.

January 31, 200916 yr Author ok here are some pics. as you can see in this first pic, there are three or so nuts welded together.then on one end i took a bolt that is the same size as 4 guage and welded it into the end. then i laid some beads with my welder all the way around the nuts and then smoothed it all with hand grinder with a flapper disc
January 31, 200916 yr Looks like a lot of hand work. It is fun welding and never hurts to be creative.
January 31, 200916 yr all you need to do is use some aluminum foil Edited January 31, 200916 yr by sick6ness
January 31, 200916 yr Very nice. Are you using the threads of the nuts to hold the wire in? I would throw some heat shrink around it, I think it would look good with that.
January 31, 200916 yr Author Very nice. Are you using the threads of the nuts to hold the wire in? I would throw some heat shrink around it, I think it would look good with that.yeah the i left the threads in there for more surface area for the solder to hold to.
January 31, 200916 yr Author Have you had any problems with it slipping out??not yet. Since 1 1/2'' of the wire is inside of it and soldered it doest budge
