i'm debating on weather i should run my pcx2400 (800rms x 2 @ 2ohm) To 2 FI Q 10" dual 1ohm subs, in a prefabbed under seat downfire box, sealed .55cubes ea. (subthump.com)

OR

build a custom box and remove part of the backseat ported 15 or 18 FI BL Dual 2ohm with the PPI pcx2400 1600w RMS x 1 @ 4ohms. in a box built to spec.

problem with the big ported single sub is i'd be losing half the backseat, and would be visible by just looking in the window.

I'm open to different sub/box combos using the ppi amp. console? blow through? behind the seat? 800x2 @ 2 or 1600x1 @ 1

That box sounds a little small

No it doesn't. It sounds perfect.

well i forgot about subtracting the speaker from my final volume, after the displacement of the speaker(which uses the entire mounting depth, and max diameter speaker for the box), i'd probably have WAAYYY less than .55 cubes. I think i'll go blow through or take out the 40 of the 60/40 rear seat. I know they say .2-.6 but being closer to .2 than .6 i'm sure they won't be near satisfying i'm used to 2 12's at minimum, and that's ported. I'll just go custom single 15 or 18 ported BL. depends on how many cubes i can squease out from teh 40 section.

anyone else in here running blow throughs or taking out backseat(s) in a crewcab?

Just remember resale value. You pretty much throw that out the window when you start hacking and cutting your truck up. There are a few guys on here running blow throughs, but most in single cab trucks.

if you have the 60/40 seat you can flip up the one side seat or remove it entirely and that is plenty of room for a 15" btl. Its what im about to do to mine after my alt gets here and i get a new battery. I already have the sub sitting here

I don't necessary agree with this.

If done correctly, the truck can be returned to normal. or less the honest people would just weld the pieces back in and throw in a bed liner.

I have thought about a blow through in my truck and I am currently planning one in a ford ranger for my brother.

I suppose if you hid it well and wanted to be a cock ass.

Damn. I never thought about how easy that'd be to hide a blowthrough to return a truck to stock. I'd be a cock ass and do a blow through. Unless you need your bed. and crew cab beds are pretty short already.

i'm not really worried about resale, i'd leave the subs in and call it an upgrade, or else be a cock ass and hide it. However i'd consider a blow through as a last resort i don't want it to be a ghetto install, ghetto bed, or leak. I had the 40 section of the 60/40 folded down and had a ported 12w7. it was OK, but i'm not a huge fan of JL, got the speaker for $200 though. Anyways that wasn't loud enough, and i'm upgrading. might just do the one 15" BL dual 2ohm, ported, 1600W RMS x1 class A/B power.

also running:

kenwood dnx-8120 -ipod/backup camera/pac swix/ the works

knu konceptz kolossus flex 1/0 power/ground big3

knu konceptz fuse blocks

knu konceptz twisted rca's

ppi pcx4125

ppi pcx2400

rainbow profi vanadium kick components

not sure on rear fill yet

2 Kinetic HC1800

lots and lots of Raamat, black foam stuff, sealed doors, (not in yet) still curious if it'll make a 3/4ton diesel quite inside

subs i'm leaning the 15bl ported but not 100%. what would be louder and fit in the same space with the same power(1600rms)
