Just a curious thought. Say I had a dual 4ohm speaker but my amp performs best at 1ohm. Can I add an inline resistor to the speaker to drop the ohm load to the amp? The sub is 1500 watts rms and the amp is 1500 watts rms at 1ohm. I thopught I would throw this up to see if it would be a simple solution for a 1 sub 1 amp setup

not for 1500 watts not that i know of...

the biggest i have seen is like 100 watts rated

Not a good idea.

You wont be gaining anything, power would be split between the resistor and sub. So just in general your sub would see 750W and the resistor would see 750W. Also the cost of a resistor to handle 750W thermally would likely cost more then adding a second sub.
