Posted March 3, 200916 yr I'm coming from two 13.5 inch JL w6v2's. I have a JL 1000/1v2 amp currently.I love the accuracy of the w6v2s, and it does get pretty loud. But I'm starting to want to be able to really impress myself and others with some disgustingly powerful low/loud notes. This leads me to wanting to sell and upgrade. I dont know which I should go for though. the Q line or the BL line. This is going in a trunk of a Pontiac grand am, so I think ported 15 inch BL's are out of the picture. But, I could most likely fit 15 inch Q's. Should I maybe go 12 inch ported BL's though? Hah its oftely confusing because the Q and the BL seem pretty close. Thanks for any help guys.
March 3, 200916 yr I understand your confusion, but after a good experience with the W6... I'd be more inclined to go to the Q.I'm not sure how much space you have, but your amp would be glorious on one 15-18" Q in a ported or sealed box.

I can fit two 15 Q's sealed. I can fit two 12 inch Bl's ported. Which would you do?Two 15 Q's sealed or two 12 bl's ported? Looking to get the low, feel it in ur chest, notes.

If your looking to impress, get at least 2k worth of power. Also in my opinion, I would get D1 subs, not D2, regardless of the JL amp. (reason why I say this is because I believe it only drops down to 1.5 ohms) But looking for high power 1K and up, for a 2ohm final load is hard.
March 3, 200916 yr Author Well I was thinking of either saving up and getting a second JL 1000/1v2, or selling my current one and getting an AQ2200d, which I think 2200 watts at 1ohm.From what I've heard, its hard to beat a JL 1000/1v2 Amp though.

That would work though, I just wouldn't want to hassle with two amps. Just my 2 cents

But, I'm sure being able to run each at 4 ohm would make my cars electrical happy. So wait, dual 2 ohm is 1 or 4 ohm? And with two thats two 4 ohms for 2 ohms? (to one amp)So if I wanted two to one amp, i'd need Dual 1 ohm, for two 2 ohm subs to one amp, to show 1 ohm? Edited March 3, 200916 yr by silenkiller
March 4, 200916 yr from installs I have seen that amp isn't everything its cracked up to be, as in it doesn't push all its power at all ohm loads and voltages like it says, and I know for a fact that bitch draws some some power, so not real sure it's the most efficient amp out there, expensive, of course, quality power, of course, but I think you could def. sell that amp and get one larger amp that will do more for you.
March 4, 200916 yr But I'm starting to want to be able to really impress myself and others with some disgustingly powerful low/loud notes. If you are asking the question most likely you want the BL's.Considering you didn't really share any details of your expectations or goals though it is hard to say. Your quote from above is extremely subjective and doesn't help.
March 4, 200916 yr Author well, i suppose my main issue here is that since I've never heard any setups other than my own, I don't know for sure exactly how noticeable the loss of SQ would be going from my w6's to BLs. Thats what makes this tough for me. Same with my 1000/1v2. I'm nervous that my lights don't dim right now because the JL is so efficient, and if I go with another brand now I'm looking at a lot of electrical issues. Blah.
March 7, 200916 yr I thought the BL's were more for Loudness and the Q's are SQ only. Now if the BL's sound that good for SQ and have better SPL . Sure get those.
March 7, 200916 yr You DON'T want SQ, not even close. You don't even understand the term. The JL is one of the most inefficient amps on the market as well, so no worries there.
March 7, 200916 yr AQ 2200 does true power, if you can back it. JL has nice stuff but for the $$$ you can do better.

Blah.i don't know where you live but i'm in ct.so if you can make the drive i'll give you a demo of my q15" ported and sealedi only run 1 and it rocks my suvi do mostly run it ported < and it sound great either way >and i don't run that much power to mine < i have it on tap and don't use it all >i have never even heard a bl but my q is enough for me and sounds nice.
