I want to buy 2 Fi BTL 18" but the place where I would be getting it installed at want to sell me 2 Addictive Audio 18", but they only have 2000 watts RMS each and I want 4000 to 5000 watts RMS. you guys think that i can get a Fi BTL with that kind of power. I still dont have any amps.

For 2 Addictive audio they want to sell it to me for $1000.

I need all you guys opinon.

Fi BTL 18". Have you ever herad a true 4000-5000 watt system? Or do you want 4000-5000 watt each sub? THe btls are rated at 2k rms each also... It will get insanely loud

Well. If you are not going to be installing the subs, then I would DEFINITELY not trust you with 5k to each sub. Might as well order a recone kit or two.

why?

what amps would you plan on running?

Have you ever messed with this kind of power before?

i first have to find out which sub i should get and then i will look for the amps.

no, but i have a friend that has like 6k.

Whatever you say. I looked on addictive audios website and it said they were 1000 rms for their top sub, and they didnt come in 18? lol. I must have looked at the wrong thing.

a little insight:

If you plan to run 5k to each sub with your knowledge (I'm not saying you're dumb by any means, but well, if you're not installing the system, then you must not have much knowledge in the field.), then those subs will needing a recone in no time at all.

I'd say go with Fi, I've never heard of Addictive Audio but they don't seem tooo bad.

It will be an expensive system, but your paying 1000$ for Addictive audio, and you would pay 1000$ for Fi (2 18 BTL) I would rather go with that. Just my opinion

what amps are you running? what electrical? You better get your wallet out and keep it out for that matter. To do this right, this will easily cost you 10k at a shop with labor.

wow this will be cool. I thought 18's would be tooo big to fit for a blow through properly...

most of the time they are. They'll most likely have to get pretty creative to pull this off.

man, put 2000 RMS to them and cal it a day.

to put 4000 - 5000 RMS to a woofer DAILY, you REALLY have to know what you are doing. and please, please dont play below the tuning frequency :)

18's are fun to get in a blow through. Just did a set in a 2007 silverado single cab blow through. Running the pair on a SS XXX10000D. Loud as heck. . .

BTL's get my vote. Awesome subs!

I would go with the BTL if I were you. It's been a few years since I dealt with Addictive Audio but from what I remember they were an OK but not outstanding product. They were carried in our shop but were outsold by Cerwin Vega and Zapco. I haven't heard of them since until I read this post. Anyway, Fi is the better choice. You'll be much better off.

If I were you i would wait.

Fi has 22'' BTL coming.

a 22'' BTL blow-though on a Sundown 3500d.

will knock'em out the box

An 18" sub is usually too tall to fit in a blowthrough. If you want to run alot of power, just run 4 BTL 15s. Doing that would let you run 10,000 rms no problem.

Keep in mind all BTLs have the same 3" coils, and will take the same amount of power. A bigger cone doesnt mean more power handling.

And if you really did the 5,000rms on each sub, it doesnt matter what your experience level is, you're going to be burning up subs if you play them for more than 30 seconds or so at full tilt. You could be a total newbie or a 25 year veteran, but 5,000 watts on a single sub is still 5,000 watts.

I would really suggest doing 4 15" BTLs. Each way to power them would be something like an Audiopipe 3k, Hifonics BX2600, Orion 2500D on each sub. Pretty cheap for the power. Another option would be run 2 bigger amps, like a Memphis 4k. This is a great deal on power from a real good guy thats right here in Florida. Bonecrusher is a personal friend of mine, and these amps rock! Killer deal, Id jump on it when you have the chance. With these 2 amps, you should be fine with a big alt and 4-5 big group 31 batteries.

I get the sense that you are too worried about figures, and not the end product. Heck a single BTL with respectable power on it, in a proper box, is going to be much louder then 95% of all cars out there.
