OK i have never really bought decent speakers other than subs in my cars, and now its time.

i would like to get a sax-100.4 from sundown to run some speakers. this will be going in an 06 scion xB.

so my options are 4" dash, 6.5" components in front doors, and 5 1/4" coax in the rear. what are some good quality speakers that wont break the bank but sound great with 100 watts. i was thinking alpine type r's but i dont know.

Should i ditch the dash speakers? and upgrade the others?

thanks

The PG RSD6.5 components are supposed to be a real good bang for the buck set...can be found for $80 shipped on eBay

If I were you (and many of the other long time SSA members), I would forget the rear speakers, and run a pair of tweets and a pair of mids active off the Sundown 100.4. It is an excellent amplifier to do so and you have much more tuning capability going active, not to mention higher value potential. ;)

I will have my new 100.4 soon. :D

I LOVED my Pioneer Premier REV speakers. I will probably get them again!

Is active really hard to set up?

I'm in the market for exactly that but am not too knowledgable at all. I was thinking of just getting a 100.2 and those pg rsd6.5s.

sorry never really dealt with door speakers, but how do you run them active/what is it?

x2 i've been told to go active with my front stage but idk how to go about that

I'm scared to do it! lol

It involves having a cross over on each kind of speaker, like tweeters only receiving 3.5Khz and up.

Maybe M5 can chime in on it.

if you dont know what active is, its best to stay away.

more tuning and such, easier to blow speakers if not done right.

i had my tweeters in the dash(tryin to find a good staging for tweets) and they got loud that way, but then i put them in the pillars and were screaming.

these are RSDs btw.
