Posted March 10, 200916 yr Ok I have the CVX's on a 2400 watt amp..puts out 1700 (RMS) at 1ohm...They are in a pro Sealed Box sprayed with Bed liner (pretty solid) and each chamber has around 2.2 to 2.4 cubic ft give or take!!If i put the Q's in the same box what will be the Differences??I know the Q's will be more clear and crisp sounding...Which will Hit the LOWS better?Which Will Be LOUDER?Would do a ported Pro box but cant fit one in my Trunk..so Sealed is the only option Here!
March 10, 200916 yr honestly i rather run either(Q or CVX) ported. if you want it louder and lower.maybe even drop to 12s so you have the space.but between the 2, CVXs will get louder, thats what they are meant to do.

I would suggest the Q's also. I've heard a few of these and I would say no comparison to the CVX.

March 10, 200916 yr i agree...2 12" q's ported over the 15's sealed.the q's and cvx's though i wouldnt really compare to each other though...
March 10, 200916 yr Are you building your own boxes or are you buying prefabs? What kind of car is it? Have you considered a single 15 or 18" ported?
March 10, 200916 yr #1 Get rid of the Pre-Fab boxes. #2 Build/get built a 2 12"s ported box. #3 Get away from Kicker as fast as you possibly can!

March 11, 200916 yr Author Well i may be wrong on this but i've already had some L7 12"s in a ported box and to me it doesn't hit as low as the sealed box does..that's why i'd wrather have a sealed box, and i wan't 2 15"s...Idk i'm kinda lost here...but i believe ported boxes sound better in trucks and suv's and sealed are better for cars!
March 11, 200916 yr The ported box must have been tuned high, I just can't see a sealed box having more output then a well built ported box.

Like below 30?

Use songs with "lows" as examples.

Tune around 30 and your set.
March 11, 200916 yr Neither is better for a car or a truck/suv. You build an enclosure to suit your ears and your drivers. A ported box will definitely go low if tuned that way. 28-36 hz tuning frequency will give you plenty of output down low. You can go around an octave lower than your tuning point before output suffers and you have problems with over excursion.
