Posted March 12, 200916 yr i am looking for a decent reasonably priced o scope for personal use on my next set up and future sets... what brands to look for???
March 12, 200916 yr How does this belong in the sundown section? This works pretty well.http://www.tequipment.net/Velleman_HPS10SE.html
March 12, 200916 yr Not so sure that an oscilloscope will help your issues. Listening for fatigue with your ears is your best defense against blowing drivers.
March 12, 200916 yr Author yeah exactly... one of my ns 12's burned up the dustcap, spiders, but tinsel and coil is fine... the other woofer is perfect. no distortion whatsoever... subs only 3 weeks old. i sent a pic to jacob and he couldnt figure it out either... i'll post some pics of the damage... but i really wanna get into doing my own installs for now and learn a lot more than i know... so i figured getting my hands on some equipment would be a good start.
March 13, 200916 yr Yeah you really just need to learn to listen for stress. If this is in a trunk it makes things more difficult because you can't hear the distortion as well inside the car. You have to open the trunk and stand behind it a few feet to hear it well. But also, it may not have been the installer's fault. You, after all, have your hand on the volume knob. If they set the gain on the amp with the head unit on volume 30 but you turn it up to 40, you're going to have problems.
March 13, 200916 yr Author thats the thing i set the volume once during installation and it never goes over that specific volume
