I went from 4 alpine type R 12"s in a sealed box with a Hifonics 2008d

Now i have a 15" FI BL with a sundown SAZ-1500d in a ported box tuned to 32hz and it kicks alpines ass, no question. From 4 subs to 1 now its louder, clearer, and has more low end.

Have you actually metered both setups? I switched from four 12's sealed to one 15 ported at 30 hz with the same amp and lost about 2-3 db peak but the ported 15" seemed more obnoxious because the lowend (30-40 hz) was louder. The 12's would peak at about 55 hz but the 15" at about 45 hz.

the only kind of music i really listen to is the low end bass. good solid long bass lines that make your nose tickle and windows flex.

all my friends were dissapointed to hear i dropped down to a single 15 but after they got in they were no longer dissapointed.

no way ill do that. ill wall it off behind the c pillars before i do anything like that. just a mean daily driver, beatin down yo block.

its covered with herculiner, it soaked up a whole quart, had to touch up some spots with paint from the glue but it came out great im happy with it.

the upgrade from hifonics -> sundown made a huge differance right there, shoulda seen what the four type-r's would do on that saz.

but nice setup either way!

Did my box in Herculiner as well. I like it other than the smell when applying.
