Posted March 30, 200916 yr The sound stuff:AQ1200D amp2 12" SDC2.5sSo after reading all these build logs, i decided to try to build my own box It's not too bad so far for a first try....and the first time using a skil saw LOL. This is all going into a 1999 Civic sedan also here's some pics!My trunkYes I'm going to fix that gap....i have to cut the top, put those "steps" in place so the subs and port can all fit like they will be on the front. Also need to cut the port back one inch, overestimated it cause i did like five different boxes before i got everything fit.And this was the easiest way to do it, which isn't too bad. I think it should turn out pretty good! What do you guys think? Any pointers to make my box better? Edited March 30, 200916 yr by FF5
March 30, 200916 yr the concept is there , and i give you an A for effort just remember measure twice cut once
March 30, 200916 yr Author the concept is there , and i give you an A for effort just remember measure twice cut onceYeah definitely figured that out......I'm planning to building a better, cleaner, more precise box this summer so that should turn out way better because of all I've learned so far.

Just keep practicing!
March 30, 200916 yr Author Haha that i will! I'm hooked on car audio, so the more i learn, the more i'll want to do Even the guys on here hitting 140+ db change their setups fairly regularly lol
March 30, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the link! Good info in there. Haha I'll have to go look at that again when i build another box.

March 31, 200916 yr Author Did a little bit of work today....cut the back at an angle so it fits the side pieces, but thats about it. It was cold and windy today, which makes for a cold, irritated and very sawdust filled me.....but there was progress!
March 31, 200916 yr Keep at it. I was always told it is better to just do it and learn the hard way. It is much easier to remember what not to do than to remember what should have been done in the first place................or something like that.
March 31, 200916 yr Author Haha yeah i'm alread looking back and thinking, "Now why didn't i do it this other way? And what did i do that for?" LOL but it's all really fun, just cant wait to get my subs!!
March 31, 200916 yr Author Ok So i did some more fitting and checking....man am i going to have to build a better box in the summer lol!But here's some pics....look a little to the right of the speaker....the box is just high enough so the top scrapes on that bumpnice snug fit lolAfter i put the "step" in....can you say close fit?And an even closer fit =/My ghetto fix for the speaker hanging too low.....i don't like it....How can i fix my speaker? To make it sit higher?Well all in all, it's been a great learning experience Any tips on how to put the box together? Edited March 31, 200916 yr by FF5
April 3, 200916 yr Author Almost done with it. Screwed it together, for the most part, and started sealing it. Figured out something else....it's too big to slide in and out of my trunk, meaning i have to assemble the rest IN the trunk.....ugh
April 4, 200916 yr Good effort You may want to change your saw blade though. Wood burn on the sides means a blunt blade.
April 4, 200916 yr Author Haha actually in my event. it means the WRONG blade lol! The first blade i used was definitely not made to cut that kind of wood.
April 10, 200916 yr Author Ok so finished product! Didn't bother puttin carpet on it cause its got WAAAAAYYY too much port noise to keep.....and the subs sound horrible in it. Haha oh well....learn from experience
April 10, 200916 yr Author Not a bad idea actually. I might use them....haha i'm about as familiar with them as i am with slot ports lol
April 11, 200916 yr maybe try aero ports to the side, looks like theres more room to the sides, that way the port won't get choked off by the back of the trunk
April 11, 200916 yr I would try a differnt design next time. your really choking the airflow into the cabin... good first effort... learning experience
April 11, 200916 yr Author I agree with you rushnrun.....just not sure how to fit two twelves in my trunk lol. I disassembled the box and am going to build a single ported box till i can figure it out or get a different car.Definitely will post a thread to see what you guys think about the single......I'm reall anxious to see what these can do Thanks for all the support! Its really encouraging, especially the tips and criticism! Edited April 11, 200916 yr by FF5
April 12, 200916 yr You are doing great just keep working at it. I used the same Audioques and the numders from DJ at Audioque worked best.If that saw uses a 7 1/4" blade get some 60 teeth ultra finish blades. Good luck an keep working.
