I say you do 4-5 layer on the whole car. Just my thoughts

Length*Width = Area

Also nobody can even remotely help you with out knowing the vehicle in question.

Im pretty sure 20sqft should be just enough. But to be on the safe side you could get 50sqft.

I just want to do the trunk, and that's allot of money I would be spending to do the whole car.

edit: well its a '97 toyota tercel the car is tiny.

I would say the base of the trunk is around 2-3 feet wide and about 2 feet long?

And then the roof of the trunk and the trunk lid.
