Posted April 27, 200916 yr i just went to my first sq event this weekend and the advice i was given by the judge is to try and widen the soundstage a bit along with getting the image a little higher. i sorta noticed this before but not really so brushed it off but after listening again post judging i could definitely see where he's coming from. he said its slightly above the a pillars and slightly wider then the car but needs just a little more. I listened to hotel cali again along with some michael jackson on the way home and noticed this 100%.any advice on how i would do that?Pointing my drivers side tweeter up helped a lil bit on some songs but I'm pretty sure I'm lacking some midrange up higher so i may swap tweeters with some larger 2" to get a bit more midrange in the a pillar(which should help the height a bit) but I'm just playing with that idea right now (im still in love with my tweeters so)width i have no idea.
April 27, 200916 yr EQ & T/A can help, but knowing what you have how it is setup and such would make it a lot easier to help.
April 27, 200916 yr Author ya i havent messed with TA at all and all the eq ive done is basic level matching id guess it could be called (nothing crazy)tweeters are rockford FNX 25mm silk in the sail panels in the doormidrange is cdt es-07 and midbass is hertz hv-200 in a door pod Edited April 27, 200916 yr by EmperorJJ1
April 27, 200916 yr You can do all of what he wants with some simple delay. You'll have to measure the response when you do this though, so you don't send the drivers our of phase.
April 27, 200916 yr Author sorry just assumed... fixedi have 2 360.2s, hu is kenwood ddx812 if that helps

April 27, 200916 yr time alignment is an easy way to help the issues you're having. There are better ways to do it but honestly I'd personally just go t/a and see where that leaves me. for t/a i'd do thissit in your vehicle, if you are doing the setup for SQ competition but the seat back as far as it goes, bla bla bla. If this is your daily driver i'd set it where you normally drive.measure the distance from your face to each of the speakers and write it down (i would say ears but this can be difficult, try using your nose, if this doesn't work your upper lip, then maybe forehead, i'm actually joking about all these to see if anyone even reads this crap)if you can set your t/a by distance, then use the measurements you just used as a starting point. (or leave it if it's good enough for you)once you get these there's 80million different ways to progress based on your preferences. I like to switch off all but one pair of speakers and start there (like just adjust the tweets, then mids, then your midbass, then turn them all back on and tweak further)
May 1, 200916 yr Author sorry missed this until now. good info ill give it a shot and see what happens
