I'm about at the point where I need some electrical upgrades, my car is an 04 Mustang, electrical is stock no big 3, has a Optima Yellowtop

My amps Bass amp has 160 amps worth of Fuses, Treble amp has 60 amps worth of fuses. If i play songs with real long bass notes my treble cuts out, maybe its just my sh!!TY wal- mart sony amp, i have a brand new soundstream amp that I'm going to have put in here shortly.

Anyway can I put a 2nd battery on the stock alt. or should i go with a 160 amp alt or a 200 amp alt or what?

New amps will help......... ALOT

Running a power wire per amp from the battery will also.

Get a bigger alt, and another battery if you wanna do it right.

its fine to have a second battery without a high output alternator. Do the big 3, it will help.

I have 0 gauge running from the bat to the dblock, yea i need to do the big 3 the only wire i have is 2/0 though i dont know if i can get it to fit lol. I dont know if you've ever seen a military slave cable but i got my hands on one and i think its gotta be 2/0 cause its way HEAVIER than my 0 gauge

Alright so If i get a Kinetik battery do these have the gas's coming off of them or no? I take it I will cease to have voltage drop with a 2nd battery? This is a rather minor system im pushing like 1200 rms @ 4 ohms bass, and will be pushing 110 rms @ 2 ohms highs and mids x 4

Also the shop that did my box put a 150amp fuse next to my battery is this the right size for 0 gauge? shouldnt it be bigger like 220 or somethign?

Kinetiks have no gases come off them. You WILL have some voltage drop until you create as many amps as you use.

Say you use 200 amps of current for your system, and your cars uses 80 or so. You need to make 280+ to not see ANY drop.

Pics of cable?

I dont have a pic at the moment but lets just say for about 12 feet of cable it probally weighs 30 pounds, its a military jumper cable for tanks which all have 4 batterys and im not sure about the alt its not really all that impressive of alt like 160 amps or so batterys are 12.9 volts but overall in series parellel they run at 24 volts would make a bad a$$ system 24 volts, you ain't gettin no flex in a tank with 2 inch think armor

Sounds almost like my hyperflex...... 1/0 is pretty heavy.

Anybody else want to voice there opinion on this? I think I'm going to add a Kinetik HC1400. How should it be wired?Like 0 Gauge from the Optima Batt Neg to the Kinetik batt neg, and 0 Gauge from the Optima Batt Pos to the Kinetik batt Pos? That would be Series wiring correct?Do I need a battery Isolater or a Relay?

the wiring you mentioned is parallel and will work fine. you could just run optima+ to kinetik + and just ground the rear batt in the back somewhere so you dont have to run two wires. the wire you mentioned is probably bigger than 1/0 as i dont know of any 1/0 that will weigh around 30lbs (12') unless its made of lead. no isolator or relay needed, but make sure you fuse BOTH ends of the wire close to the batts. the 150 is fine on your 1/0 cause your amp has 160a of fusing on it, so its fine. when you wire your amp up to the 2nd batt, if its close and won't short, theres no need for another fuse too...just straight battery to amp on both + and - connections.

What exactly is a batt cap like the soundstream ones is this actually a battery with a cap attached to it or no?
