Posted May 6, 200916 yr I drive a 96 accord sedan, its basically just a beater until I get out of college in a year and buy something nice. I'm looking to put a new headunit, and a sub in it. Currently it is all stock. So I'm looking for recommendations on a basic headunit (under 200? is that realistic?) that can just play cds and also an ipod. I've been looking at subs and amps also, in particular the FI Q 10 or 12. What amp would you guys recommend with these subs? I also see that they have a clearance on the X 12, what amp would you recommend with that sub? http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...26684&st=60I want to keep sub+amp under 550 hopefully.Realistically, is my car going to rattle a lot with a decent sub in it? Should I install some kind of sound deadening in the trunk? For reference, my friend has a 12" Alpine Type R with a Alpine mrd-m605 in a sealed box in his e46 3 series and I think that sounds pretty good. I imagine the q10 or q12 would sound better than that, how does the x 12 compare? I listen to mostly rap, although also some music like 311, Incubus, and also techno sometimes. Sorry for all the questions!! Edited May 6, 200916 yr by eman88
May 6, 200916 yr welcome to ssa! i've got a 95 accord coupe which has the same trunk as yours, and i was able to cram a 15" in a 4cu ft enclosure tuned to 33hz back there. i think a single 15 or two twelves would be a good choice for that space, and just a hunch but i think a BL is probably the woofer you'd want based on what info you've provided us so far.

I'm also planning on retaining the stock speakers, so I don't want the bass to be overwhelming, which is why I was leaning towards a 10 (or maybe a 12). Thanks for the welcome!!Why do you suggest the BL over the Q? I've just read a lot of good things about the Q series on other forums so thats why I was thinking about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong (probably ) but that amp would be underpowered for the Q (or BL) series subs, right?
