When i want to show off my stuff im always afraid of blowing my subs. I was wondering if there is a formula or something that you guys use to make sure you know where the subs limit is? If i dial in my gains to where the amp is not sending clipped signals when the head unit is all the way up, does this mean that i can turn the head unit up as much as i want and not have to worry? I have an

Audioque HDC312 "1000 RMS" sub

Audioque AQ1200D

all wired at 1 ohm

most hu will clip well before max volume. if it goes to say 40 i wouldnt go above 30-32 pic a volume level around 75% of max and set your gains to this then use that number as your max volume

Yeah, thats how i figured out how to set my gains without a oscilloscope. Thats also where i got the idea that maybe if i set my gains to the max volume, then i would be able to turn it up without clipping. Ive also hear ALOT that you should never turn your head unit up to more than 75% of the top volume. I was jus wondering how loud i could get my sub before is tarted to damage it.

Thanks

We can't really tell you the exact gain setting and the exact volume setting to be on. If the sub stops getting louder or starts making a thin, dull, flappy kind of sound, you've gone too far.

I think Meade did a video about this on his Youtube..... you can check your Pre-Outs on you H/U with a O-Scope from what he said.

Or if your good you can hear the distortion start...... ;)
