Posted May 16, 200916 yr im planing on putting 2 icon 15's in the back of my explorer...what kinda mids and highs would i need to keep up with the bass?i've only done like small setups before so im not sure what kinda speakers i need,i dont have much of a price range, just wanna make sure my money is spent welland not something crappy.i wanna run them to a sundown 100.4.and suggestions?(btw all the door speakers are 6x8's)thank you for the help
May 16, 200916 yr If you want to stay with a 6x8 I like the Kicker KS series Focal 570CA1. The Kickers run 120 retail and the Focal 300 retail
May 16, 200916 yr Check out the Mach 5 MLI6.5's. You can always make an adapter for them to fit your doors.
May 16, 200916 yr Admin Do you have a budget? Are you considering running active? Can you survive without the rear fill?
May 16, 200916 yr Don't run 6x8s. With a wooden baffle those speaker holes can be easily adapted to fit 6.5" mids, and have enough clearance for most good speakers.
May 18, 200916 yr Author i kinda have a budjet, i'd like to stay cheap and save as much as i can.im not competing or anything just a daily driver so it doesn't have to be the besti just dont wanna wasit my money on unreliable stuff.i've never had a four door.so not sure on the rear fill thing.i want to put speakers in all 4 doors, possibly run 2 6.5s up front (each door)and run 1 (each door) in the back? i'd have to get a second amp though.
May 18, 200916 yr It all depends on your definition of keep up.If you want to stay cheap, you will have to forego the rears but they don't do anything positive anyways. What level are your install skills?
May 18, 200916 yr Author i've had like 4 years, but im having a good freind help who's been installing for over 20 years
May 24, 200916 yr get another 100.4 and run a three way front active.then you could mix and match diy drivers for cheap.and keep up sound wise.my three way front gets loud because all drivers play only in there sweet spots.and show no signs of stress because of it.
May 27, 200916 yr Author what about running rockford fosgate power 6.5 comps and run 2 in each front door, (fiberglass them in)then get a second saz 125.2 and run two more 6.5 comps in the rear doors?i'd have to get different rear door speakers though, cause the power handling right?if not would two more rockford power 6.5 comps work?the processing is something else i was gonna ask about, would i need a rockford 360 or something like that? May 27, 200916 yr With 2 15's Icon in the back, you will never hear the rear speakers, unless you open only the rear doors : too much bass!!!Your passengers on the back seats won't hear them, with this bass hitting them!Put more money on your front doors speakers, a good amp and deadening products : and it will be "GOOD TO GO"!!!
May 28, 200916 yr Author so.say screw back doors, and run two 6.5 comps in the front?now anyone have experience with rockford power 6.5 comps?i know rockfords reliable but i wanna know some feed back from other people.
May 28, 200916 yr Admin But yes, I would suggest ditching the rear speakers and spend that money on going active or at least a better set of components for the front.

June 1, 200916 yr Author And still you haven't shared your budget...sorry bro thats my bad,but for the speakers, priced by pair, no more then 200.00and i'd rather stay under 150.
