Posted May 26, 200916 yr my buddy had me design a box for 4 icon 12'sand i was wondering how this would work.box would be tuned to 28hzexternal: 17x38x41internal: 14x33x38port: 5x14 (20 long) (firing back)double baffelgoing into an explorerkeeping the second rowand running on a 3000d or 3500d (he said he was gonna try and find a 3000d used in good shape)and box would end up at about 8.78cubft after all displacement.the top and back parts were just there for me to get an image in my head.any suggestions?think it'll sound good?port nose problems?just tell me how ya feel i guess lolalso, please check my math on tuning ect. if you dont mind Edited May 26, 200916 yr by High_score_1
May 26, 200916 yr Got some probs with your figuring. What will be the outer dimensions INCLUDING the double baffle? Your figures do not add up, and they are different in what you wrote and on the pic. Good luck.
May 26, 200916 yr Ye kinda confusing on our part.Looks like it's tuned to 25Hz.You have around 70sq" of port area.(could use a little more)
May 26, 200916 yr Try this:15.5 high41 deep/wide36 deep/wideThose are OUTER dimensions and do NOT include the second top baffle. You will just add the second baffle. Doesn't affect calculations.I'm assuming you will build the box normally, where the top and the bottom are not flush, but are on the very top and bottom.Use a port 7 inches wide and 14 inches tall and 20 inches long to give you 32 hz tuning. This will give you 9.11 cu. ft. net. If you need me to change things, just tell me!Internal dimensions will be 14x39.5x34.5 Edited May 26, 200916 yr by nick_19
May 26, 200916 yr ^And around 98sq" of port area which is betterLowest tuneing you could go would be 30Hz(25" long)^(sub displacement included)edit: fixed
May 26, 200916 yr ^And around 98sq" of port area which is betterAnd if you still wanna tune to 28Hz, Make the port 25" long.^(sub displacement included)Not exactly.Just let me know if you want to change things. 25" long will introduce other problems (internal volume changes). That and I like to keep the ends of the port as far away from other walls as I can... Just me though. If you want to tune lower and maintain around 9 cu. ft., you will need to make the enclosure bigger...Let us know what you think man.Rob, hit me up with your email and I will give you the meanest box making tool ever. May 26, 200916 yr Ye i edited my post^ i was using 17" as the height, and didn't see where you said 15.5".But with a 25" long port you'd be left with 8.75" from the end of the port length to the back-wall.So that would give you 8.81cuft net airspace @ 30Hz
May 27, 200916 yr Author the mix up on what i said i did want it to be 36 deepand thank you for checking my math and stuff, this is the biggest project i've done, also thank you for the new demensions, also the box making tool you were talking about?could i get it also?
May 27, 200916 yr Yes my friend.PM (personal message) me with your email address and I'll throw it your way!
May 27, 200916 yr Author thanks bro, hopefully now i dont have to ask about correcting my math and design just for opinions on what you guys think lol Edited May 27, 200916 yr by High_score_1
