Posted June 2, 200916 yr A quick questionI am planing to buy this wire from knuconceptswhen it asks me to choose fuse size what do i pickright now i am running a dc l4 12 with an aq1200d. i want to upgrade in the near future with 2-3k watts:)the question is it fine if i get the 300 amp fuse?http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-PK0
June 2, 200916 yr I think people get confused on the inline fuse being for the amp. The vast majority of amps are already fused. The inline is for the wire not the amp. So you pick your fuse according to wire size not amp size.Personally I use the size under the recommended. On my 0 gauge I have 250 amp anl fuses. This is from bcae.com. Suggested Fuse Sizes:Wire Gauge RecommendedMaximum Fuse Size00 awg 400 amps0 awg 325 amps1 awg 250 amps2 awg 200 amps4 awg 125 amps6 awg 80 amps8 awg 50 amps10 awg 30 amps12 awg 20 amps14 awg 15 amps16 awg 7.5 ampsThese are the recommended maximum fuse ratings for the corresponding wire size. Using a smaller fuse than what's recommended here will be perfectly safe. Edited June 2, 200916 yr by alvitae
