Posted June 11, 200916 yr My Friend Has 3 Kicker 12" L7's With A Db Audio 1600 Watts.Stock Electrical. He Was Wondering What Would Be Better To GetAn Equalizer Or A Crossover ??What Do Yall Think ?They Both Bassicaly Do The Same Dont They
June 11, 200916 yr They are completely unrelated what they do.Crossovers stop frequencies that you don't want to play through the subs from making it to them. Nearly all amplifiers for subs already have these.Equalizers allow you to adjust the level of different frequencies to fix anomalies in your frequency response.I wouldn't buy either unless you can describe what his goals are that he cannot currently reach.
June 11, 200916 yr Author Well He Said He Wants To Achieve Louder ANd More Clearer Front Stage. He Already Has Enough Bass.Although When The Bass Isnt Hitting And There Is Treble And Midrange You Can Hear Some Come Out Of The Subs So IDK
June 11, 200916 yr Author He Has 2 Clarion Audio 4" Speakers ( 1 In each Door)And 4 Q Power TweetersNeither Are Hooked Up To An Amp.Just Directly From HisJensen Touchscreen Head Unit
June 11, 200916 yr in my opinion, 2-4" speakers and 4 tweeters running stock on an amp or no amp will keep up with 3-12" kicker cvx's even with 700 watts rms coming from an amp and this is speaking from experience
June 11, 200916 yr Author Well He Says He Wants More Front Stage So Im Guessing Add An AMp ?And Some Bass Stoppers ?
June 11, 200916 yr Author He Would Have To Either Have To Make Fiberglass Enclosures For Them And Mount Them On The Column Near Windshield Or Custom Box So That He Can Put Tweeters And Mid ranges Behind The Seat. Heres A Vid Of His Setup. Let Me Know What You Guys Think Edited June 11, 200916 yr by Kent
June 11, 200916 yr amp and bass stoppers wont help at all, if he gets some more speakers 6.5" or bigger and and amp then he should be ok.
June 11, 200916 yr I think he needs a new box for his subs too. Considering he is taking up his back seat he really should have those L7's ported. They will come alive that way. Also going to need way more up front and 4's will NOT cut it no matter what. Tons of space in the doors for them though so you are in luck.
June 11, 200916 yr Author He Has The L7"s Ported But The Port Is Wayyy to Small I Think. Its Like Around 1 Or 1.5" Wide. Also Im Gonna Try To Convince Him To Put Some More Front Stage In The DOors.
June 11, 200916 yr how big is his box, port and what frequency is it ported at. wheres the port at it didnt see it and they didnt sound ported, whats the specs of the amp he is using.

June 11, 200916 yr they go up to a 6.5 so mli's mite be a possibility i did not check the mounting depth or not sure if it's the right truck or not.http://www.qlogicfactoryoutlet.com/index.p...71765564fbdee39

Then still need airspace and have to vent into the fender all for kicks that aren't aimed all that well? The doors look super easy in his ride and IB > cramped when it comes to drivers that need to play midbass.

The doors look super easy in his ride and IB > cramped when it comes to drivers that need to play midbass.your right up the ally of what i am thinking. don't know if he is willing to lose the center console or not you mite be able to put two L7's or L5's 8 inches in the center console spot. you build a box that is the correct size then you put the ski's on like a Christmas sled mount them to the side's of the box i seen it in a issue of sport truck or mini trucking or some thing like it they even did a padded arm rest above the back sub. with those two 8's you can run them in a 3 way active type set up with that eq i suggested. i think you will need a 4 channel and a two or 3 two channels. because you will have mid tweets and bass on all those amps the reason i suggest doing this way is you got a nice truck good subs in the back and you need a lot more mid bass. why do it half A$$ed when you should do it right. and make the truck sound right so tune the 8 a little higher for a mid bass type of kick. i would hate to see it half a$$ if you can fiber glass in the 6.5's some thing like march5audio mli's and just buy some high powered tweets from some were. those kick panel boxes like the guy is saying are A$$. if you need me to try to find that article on the box i described i can it came out very sweet.
