Posted June 14, 200916 yr OK guys, theres finally gonna be a show in my area so I decided I would try to throw something together real quick,as the show is on the 28th and I just got started.Heres what I had lying around:my HU is an older model Eclipse 54400,next in line is an AudioControl EQL feeding only the highs amp,an Orion HP4800,which runs bi-amped to a set of older MB Quart Reference x-overs.For mids I had a set of Boston Rally 6.5"s(I know theyre nothing like the Pros),for tweets the only thing I could find is a set of stock VW tweets I pulled out at the shop, not really as bad as I had expected though. For my low end I have the rear channels ran directly to an Orion HCCA D1200(again,NOTHING like the originals, but enough for now),thats feeding 2 Massive CW 10"s (not the junk ones with the lighted cones, the older ones)in a temporary chit bocx.Keep in mind guys I just got laid off so Im on a real tight budget, seriously,I cant even throw down on a cheap set of tweets right now.Ok now for the pics.I didnt think about pics while building the amp rack or the eq box,bot heres what I got. Thanks for lookin guys and plaese leave comments positive or negative. June 14, 200916 yr Author Guys I know i was wrong, but I needed subs so bad and Im so broke I traded my near mint (8.5/10) Gen Viii HiFonics Atlas for those Massive 10"s. My a-hole is still hurtin.
June 14, 200916 yr You need to re-install the factory weather seal. As it stands right now, you have a severe cancellation issue without the front and rear wave from the Boston being separate.

June 15, 200916 yr Admin I would not sweat it. Just save up for what you want or need and it will be good to go.
June 15, 200916 yr an Orion HP4800,which runs bi-amped to a set of older MB Quart Reference x-overs.For mids I had a set of Boston Rally 6.5"s(I know theyre nothing like the Pros),for tweets the only thing I could find is a set of stock VW tweetsYou really can't mix and match crossovers and drivers. Bi-amping helps, but is still a terrible bandaid. Since you have the amplifier channels just run active!

Since you have the amplifier channels just run active!I just think the amps built in setup wouldnt be as nice as the MB Quarts(I really like these peices).I plan to run some RE comps but I would really love to hear them first. For the low end I plan to run 2 RE SR10d4's or a single RE SE/SX 12,Ive only got 600@1ohm to play with. Also Im still running the HPF for all channels on the amp,but Ive x-ed the tweets over higher and the bostons at around 250=300(the thing is labeled 50-500)I kinda have the mids on a band-pass.On thing I can say is I REALLY miss my MB Quart comps.I built an Escort up with glassed pods in the doors for the mids, man they did sound sweet.http://www.carstereo.com/installs/photo_ga...p;galleryid=695You guys might enjoy the link.I went through quite a bit with that car and never even finished it.Believe ot or not,Id say that Dual/Jensen setup hit in the mid 40's,and Im usually within 2 db of my estimates, usually. June 15, 200916 yr I just think the amps built in setup wouldnt be as nice as the MB Quarts(I really like these peices).Umm, it may be a nice crossover (and that i doubt) but it still isn't matched at all to what you have it connected to. If it is actually a good crossover then it is even worse as the anomalies of the driver will be dealt with in the crossover causing all sorts of hell in your frequency response. The ones in your amp are WAY better.
June 15, 200916 yr Author Just wanted to add, future plans include getting a spare set of door panels to glass on(this is my daily driver, and its my wifes car)once I get some nice comps for up front. Also a second battery for the other side of the trunk in an enclosure with a plexi front, and a new box for 2 10's with a front plate to completely finish the trunk and make it look real clean. In case anybody is wondering, the wiring is all SoundQuest, exact same thing as Stinger,I worked in a shop that sold Stinger products and theyre identical. Why did I ever spend so much for the 1/0 Stinger kit in my Lincoln.

I cant do band-pass on the amp(man what I would give to get my Audio Art 240.6 fixed) and dont want to run the low lows to the Bostons,or high pass really low and get the highs.Im really happy with it for now. They sound just as good if not beter than they did with the MB Quarts. Do you really not have faith in the pre-Maxxsonics MB Quart systems.Anyhow I do appreciate your concern. Edited June 16, 200916 yr by Highroller
June 17, 200916 yr I'd doubt those are bandpassed and if so they will be passed at completely the wrong frequencies. Crossover design is far from trivial in fact go look at some really high end speakers. Typically they are pretty damn similar to cheap ones with the only difference being the crossover. Also, I'd use a general rule of thumb that for a 2nd order or higher crossover the crossover for the speaker system should probably cost as much as the drivers.
