Posted April 26, 200520 yr Admin ok, I have to admit, I have an amplifer addiction, at first it was just with classic RF amps, kicker ZR's, Orion HCCA's, with a fwe ZED Audio produced US Acoustics... but then I started branching out my interest, and I sorta follow how are the amplifer people online and I pay attention to their choices and learn from their mistakes or good choices, guys like Josh Laine, zane (below reality), SQStephen, PerryB, and Tirefyr (aka ryan) are just a few that come to mind, so to get on with it, I have been an MB Quart follower, not always been able to afford their products, in many cases opting for lesser expensive pieces, so when Ryan orders the MB Quart right after he ordered the highly advanced JBL/Crown amp, it made me take pause, from what I understand, MBQuart could be out of business soon, I have been trying to follow here and there on the RF forums, and I remember seeing something along the lines of that RF was losing money owning MB Quart... .. I could be misinformed ... so I am curious about the risk of ordering these amplifers if the company will not be there in the future if there is a failure, (hense the reason I did not by that Onyx sub a few years ago) I am wondering if these are completly new amps, or if they are based of the new RF amps in anyway, seemed strange how close in release time between the two amplifer lines.... and the fact that the amps have "transnova", which I have only heard about with RF amplifers of a few years ago one piece of info that is missing from the specs on the website is the dampening factor of the amplifers, this has become important to me more and more recently, because I am becoming more and more worried about SQ, so if the amplifer has greater driver control the crisper the sound (to my ears) so whats the verdict on the puppies so far
April 28, 200520 yr Denim, As far as I know, the MB Quart of old is still around, but only known as Quart and still producing loudspeakers. THere is a hissy over the name to this day. I have heard rumors of RF's Quart going under, but just that. As far as their amplifiers are concerned, they share no connection with any of the other RF products. If you happen to have the JAnuary 05 issue of CA&E you can read the review on them. That is really what swayed my decision on buying them. Their are a ton of advanced features that are well beyond that of even amplifiers two or three times the price of the Quarts. I myself am not too concerned about something happening to them. If something happens after the one year warranty, there's always K&B audio or someone knowledgeable enough to repair them (Dave Edwards comes to mind). Mine should be in tomorrow, along with the JBL so look for some new threads.
April 28, 200520 yr Too bad I don't have the cash for the raa1000 I think the model number is. Great Deal IMO. It's a long shot but maybe by the next paycheck they will still have one.
April 28, 200520 yr Author Admin hey ryan dont hate me but I found this >> http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/465819/
April 28, 200520 yr I saw that the day after I ordered. If it's any consolation, Crutchfield jacked the price up $50 on the 4200 the next day too. I think I came out well.
April 29, 200520 yr I was under the impression that rf closed the doors to the MBQ factory. I spoke with someone that said he saw the factory get shut down. Then I heard somewhere else that said rf was going to just change the name of mbq to something else. This is too confusing for me.
