So. my hifonics brutus bxi1208d is causing distortion, it doesn't start up instantly but as it gets going it starts to CLIP hard, the clipping light isn't going off or anything, im assuming its the heat? its about 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

i have an Kinetik Hc 600, 4 gauge wire, stock alt.

i get what i'd payed for right?

Unfortunately so. You say it gradually gets worse as you keep playing? Is it only at full tilt or even when turned down?

you prob are just running off that kinetik hc600 check your fuse between the two batteries to see if it blew, if so put a new fuse in and you'll be good to go.

Do us a favor and take a couple of measurements with a DMM.

Measure at the alternator, at front battery, after the fuse, at the HC600, and finally at the amp.

Post those results here. Do it with the car idling.

so i metered my alt, front bat, back bat, and at my amp and this is what i got

14.16 (good)

14.05 front bat (good)

13.94 back bat (good)

10.08 (very bad)

what could be killing a little over than 3 volts while idling?

loose ground or power wire at the amp?

Hmm seems something is robbing you of voltage between the battery and amp. Test on either side of the fuse on that wire, sometimes fuse boxes go bad.

Evil power/ground wire?

could be, maybe satan posessed my 4gauge tsunami wiring ;)

Unhook the positive wire from the amplifier and use your DMM to check the positive wire on another ground, post the results, if it reads good, then your ground is bad after all, I spent hours the other day trying to find out why my amplifier would only turn on if the RCA's were plugged in, then I found out my ground got ripped out of the ring terminal, so my amplifier was grounding itself to the RCA's which is why it would only turn on if they were plugged in.

Very very bad.

I re did EVERYTHING instead of using rockford fosgate ring terminals i made my own from some metal tubing and its great and cheap! im getting like 13.8v at full tilt while idiling which is great for a stock alt.
