im thinking about buying four kicker l5 15 inch subwoofers. i sent kicker a e mail what size box i was wanting to put them in 16.04 cf inside. that would bring it to around 4.01 each subwoofer. i told them i wanted to port the box and they sent a e mail back this is what it said.shrink it down to 14 cf internal . this will have port and woofer displacement already caculated into it. give the box 160 square inch port opening and make the port 19.5 long into enclosure. seems to be to small for them what are you all thinking on this? what would that give the subwoofers after woofer displacement and the port they gave seems to small they also said it would tune it to 35hz

...What You Really Should Be Concerned About Is Why You Want 4 Kicker L5's.....

lol!!!

There are so much other woofers on earth!!!!!!!!(SSA, Sundown,Incriminator Audio, and many more on the shop, HERE).

With 10 ft3 you can make something great.

Read more, look around.

Maybe you can find some better sub for your money.

Maybe you will realize that you really need these L5!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Take your time

I had a Kicker S15L7, but I found, here, some much better speakers for the dollars!

good luck

they are just trying to help, for the insane $ you will spend on those kickers you could get MUCH louder and more clear subs, like Fi, SSA, Sundown or SoundStream with much better customer service for much less dough. But to answer your question 3.5 sounds about right not including sub, port or bracing displacement, of course that also depends on your goal for the box. sounds like a daily driver box and tune to me

first i have checked ssa and ai but i can get the 08 models two for 359 with free shipping! i do look around and kicker is saying 3.5 cf each then ports and subwoofer displacement . that will bring the box down pretty small for15s what do you think they should be at?

I had 2 for about the same price : great deal!

4 ft3 sealed was the minimum volume for a sealed enclosure to Start sounding decent!

6 ft3 was much better. (For one sub)

So, less than 4 ft3 for a ported enclosure may be too small.

Your box should be good for 2 15s

But I am not a specialist!

With 10 ft3 and 720$ for subs you can do better.

It's up to you!

XCONs require anywhere from 4ft^3 - 5ft^3 and larger depending on your goals. i would say you have plenty of space in there.

I Know It's Not About A Name, It's About Build Quality And Woofer Per Dollar, Which Is Something Kicker Doesn't Like To Employ In Their Engineering.

You Could Do Extremely Better With A Single Driver Or Two Driver Setup With The Brands On This Forum, For Much Less Than You'd Spend Anywhere Else To Get A "Similar" Setup.

All In All, We're Trying To Help You Get Out Of The World Of Mainstream Audio And Into The Realm Where The Big Boys Play.

Edit: Two Xcon 15"s Will Most Likely Blow Those Kickers Back To The Assembly Line, And Sound MUCH Better Doing It. 8.5 - 9.5 CuFt @ 31 Hz Sounds Good. They Are Also Rated Conservatively At 1750 Watts RMS.

Personally kickers do sound good from around 60-85% of recommended power and after that they lose their sound quality that they have, the subs on these forums never use sound quality with the right amount of power or maybe a little more as some people also tend to do. If you want Kicker go for it but at least check the subs on this forums shop and under forum manufacturers and you will find better subs with better quality and customer service. I cant wait to upgrade my Kicker CVX's, I bought them before joining this site and have been trying to sell them everyday since I have been on here.

Now if you plan to build a box that big you cant throw a lot of power on these subs and Kicker does lower their rms rating for subs in a ported box so you have to factor this into the equation. I would build a box to their recommended settings and if you go bigger just do try to power them with 4,000 rms amp.
