Posted July 2, 200916 yr does anyone have a solution to getting speaker wire through the door "boot" or what ever it's called? i tried for hours and i cant even get it half of the way through!! Edited July 2, 200916 yr by mwerling1212
July 2, 200916 yr Use a wire coat hanger. Make a small hook at one end and loop the wire on it and tape it in place with electrical tape. Try to make that point as skinny as possible to aide getting it through the hole. Then just Fish it through.
July 2, 200916 yr Author believe it or not, i tried that and still couldnt get it through. the boot is full of wires. its rediculous. well i guess ill give it another go later. thanks for the help.
July 2, 200916 yr Mine was hard to get through also, so i cut 2 or 3 slits in the ran it with my finger and coat hanger to the first slit, then pulled the wire a good amount. then put it back in the slit to head towards the second one and so on. worked perfect and havent had any problems for over 3 years. hope it helps
July 3, 200916 yr I would not cut the boot. If you cut the boot you will let moisture get in there. How much depends on how big you make the cut.Disconnect it from the door and body and it may give you a little more wiggle room. The lube is a good idea too.
July 3, 200916 yr Just pull the boot out of the hole, feed the wire through and put the boot back in.It's not hard if you can reach it.The one's in my ranger made an "S" shape so I just pulled them outand re-installed them.
